I apperantly found out, the Windows XP progress dialog still exists. It appears when you right click > Install a inf file. I wonder, is it possible to set this as the default progress dialog? A registry key for the progress dialog exists, so it should technically be possible.

The Windows 7 one also still exists, it gets activated whenever classic theme is enabled as well as copying a file from a compressed archive using TC4Shell, as well as setting attributes on files through explorer.
However, the XP file operation dialog is just completely stored in setupapi.dll (I believe, or could be an INF-related exe) if you look at it in Resource Hacker, and is probably modified to specifically be used as a progress dialog for inf installation, so I'm not sure how it could be restored in explorer.
