Hi,
I am trying to determine what the best version of Windows is for installing the Simple Classic Theme. I have been trying a few different versions (some normal, some LTSC), but I tend to run into massive issues. ALT+TAB won't work, right clicking something shows empty fields, or sometimes the software won't install at all.
What version of Windows allows for the easiest setup with the classic theme?
21H2 - doesn't seem to work well, this is the version I first tried that led me to try others. I can't alt tab, and right clicking the taskbar brings up some weird 'icon' menu LTSC 2016 (1607) - I get a weird 100% cpu bug after installing, so I can't test it until I fix that LTSC 2019 (1809) - It won't install at all. It hangs on "installing Simple Classic Theme"
Just looking for some ideas. I hear 1607 works well, but I need to get it working without it bugging out first.

Try disabling the Windows Update service, usually it uses a ton of resources on first boot

ALT+TAB won't work, right clicking something shows empty fields, or sometimes the software won't install at all. What version of Windows allows for the easiest setup with the classic theme? Any 1903+ version works best. This is because SCT was designed to work on those versions specifically. (Note: 20Hx works but can break sometimes) Let's dissect this:Can't alt+tab: This happens on any version of Windows, it's because a registry tweak is required for the Classic alt+tab menu to be restored. I can't find the reg right now, maybe someone else can upload it here? Right clicking the taskbar brings up some weird 'icon' menu: Shot in the dark here: you are using SCTT. That utility is in a bit of a weird state, because SCT says it's the recommended option even though I recommend RetroBar myself. Why is this? Because I recently stopped developing SCTT and it still contains a lot of bugs and debug features unnecessary for normal users. You can select and install RetroBar through SCT's options menu. SCT has never been officially tested on LTSC, so I can't say much about it. From what I've heard LTSC 2019 should work fine, the bug you're getting is actually related to the installation directory of SCT, not Windows itself. I personally don't recommend going that far back. Application support is limited and your system is vulnerable to quite a bit of stuff.

Thank you for the help so far. I will try a 1903+ version next, as I was able to resolve the issues of some versions of windows runnning very slow in a VM. I will try the registry tweak for alt-tab, thanks for that tip. Also, thank you for recommending retrobar, I will try that next. Appreciate all the feedback

Can't alt+tab: This happens on any version of Windows, it's because a registry tweak is required for the Classic alt+tab menu to be restored. I can't find the reg right now, maybe someone else can upload it here? On Windows 11 the both Alt+Tab interfaces work just well, either classic or default. Only Windows 10 Alt+Tab has this problem.

There is a registry key to desactivate the immersive menu before 1809. In addition, the support of exploring patcher starts at 1809, not 1903.
