I don't know what version of Windows it is, but it seems to me that the window on the right uses the basic theme. If so, and it's Windows 7, switch to the basic theme. If it's in Windows 8, disable DWM. If it's in Windows 10, use basicthemer2. You can also use basicthemer2 in Windows 7 and 8 if you want to keep DWM.

Hello, will the metro applications still work after killing DWM.exe? I would like to kill DWM to get windows vista style but I don't know what problems may arise after that. No, Metro apps will not work. Unfortunately. That's what BasicThemer2 is all about (getting the basic theme without killing DWM). The problem is that the developer does not seem inclined at the moment to solve the issue (I do not receive an answer) .

This is a transparency issue. anixx wrote some AHK scripts to fix some of this, but I think some of them are not good for the Basic theme, because it removes the rounded corners. I need to find the "good" AHK script.

It's probably a permission issue.
Duplicate the winver.exe or the system directory, then edit the duplicated winver. Next, rename the original winver, then move the edit winver to the system directory. If the system is reluctant to rename the original winver, modify the permissions (by changing the owner).

Hi, I'm just curious how many people in this forum are into making newer versions of Windows look like W7. Does W7 theming fall under the scope of WinClassic? This is one of my biggest personal projects and I would love to share about it here but not really sure if that would be annoying

That depends. Is the host machine itself actual Macintosh hardware? If yes, then you can just install it like any other guest operating system, no problem. If the answer is no, then I advise that you give up now. Having attempted the same in the past, I can assure you that the end result is not worth the effort in the slightest. It is sluggish to the point where it is essentially unusable.

Depends on what version you want to run. If you want to run a PowerPC version you need QEMU. About Intel versions I am not sure.

I am using the original windows sidebar from Windows Vista. When I turned on the Aero Lite theme, it turned out that the sidebar uses the classic theme. What could it be caused by? After all, Aero Lite is not a classic theme. I'm using Windows 10 View AttachmentI think the program that handles the sidebar doesn't have a manifest to handle Aero Lite's high contrast mode. What program are you using for the sidebar (maybe I can patch the program) ?

@orthodoxwin32 It is not a problem for me, but an interesting find that I wanted to share. I just wonder if the aerolite motif sometimes has anything to do with the classic motif. I think it's related to this : learn.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/win32/controls/supporting-high-contrast-themesSimply put, until Windows 7, high contrast mode was the classic theme. The only difference was the communication to applications, especially web browsers, that high contrast mode was enabled (so that web pages could be displayed in high contrast mode). So there was the classic theme without high contrast, and the classic theme with high contrast, which only makes a difference in web browsers. Since Windows 8, Microsoft has created a visual style called "aerolite.msstyle" dedicated to high contrast mode (and also to Windows Server Core, but that's something else again). Except that for this style to be supported, the application must contain a manifest stating that the application must take into account the high contrast mode. If the manifest does not exist, or only Windows 7 is stipulated in the manifest, the application is displayed with the Aerolite server part usualy, window frame), but uses the classic theme for the client part (the interior controls). Usually, adding a "Windows 8" section in the manifest solves the problem.
