Project-95: A Windows 9x Themed Mod for Half-Life 2

I was going through some of my old YouTube favorites recently, and I came across a video of a Half-Life 2 mod that I'm honestly pretty surprised I never posted about here.



This is Project-95, an unreleased Half-Life 2 mod created by Wirelex exe. If you're really familiar with Half-Life mods, you might recognize that name as the creator of Gordon Freakman and its sequel. While those games were pretty ridiculous and nonsensical, this appears to have had a more serious tone, and just happened to take place inside Windows 95. I imagine you would have been mainly fighting against computer viruses and such, and I'm sure there wouldn't be any shortage of Windows and computer jokes and references.

Sadly, this is mainly just speculation based on the limited information we have on this. The project appears to have been abandoned, with the last upload being in 2017. It's a shame because this mod really showed a lot of promise. Wirelex did post a few other videos of the project, and even some music tracks from it on SoundCloud if I remember correctly. But that's pretty much all we have to go off of. He is a talented modder, and as a pretty big Half-Life fan and oldschool Windows/computer stuff in general, I definitely would have loved to play this.
