I have the same problem. I have imported the regestry file, replaced all the files told in the designated locations, set the credui reg to 0, but it wont work. Addtiionally, Ive done this before, but for some reason it isnt working now.

Download a 22000.1 iso (if you are on Windows 11) and use it's consent.exe, on 10 the consent.exe does not have to be replaced.

For Win11 users there is no need to download and copy 22000.1 consent.exe . You just need to copy ONLY the dlls/mui files but before you restart and start coping the .dlls/.mui files just make sure you import Authentication UI CredUI Helper.reg and edit HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Authentication\LogonUI\TestHooks and set XamlCredUIAvailable to 0. That's it

Yeah it works, I don't even mind the delay, it still plays the UAC sound too!
- tested on build 26080.1

Installed it properly. Works with default theme, and Windows 7 Aero themes. Can't figure out for the life of me what resource is missing from my other themes that the UAC dialog can't find. That, apparently according to M$, is the error code for a dialog box not being able to locate a specific resource, but I've not got a clue as to how to figure out what resource is missing.. Google turns up nothing useful, so I'd love any suggestions.

Made some Windows Vista strings. The UAC UI is somewhat different in Vista but I'm not into DirectUI modding yet. authuiVista.dll.mui (31.5 KB)

I'm so glad that the "Community" has fixes for Microsoft's Garbage I really don't like the UWP/XAML Versions of UAC I don't like either version of it that being Windows 10 or Winshit 11, the Win32 Versions from Windows 8.1 and prior are way better see this is why I prefer older versions of Windows.
@aubymori You did such amazing work, on trying to bring back the Legacy UAC (Win32).

Does this also bring back the old authentication dialog (for example, SMB shares)? If you mean the following dialog: then no. In fact it completely breaks it (XamlCredUIAvailable = 0), not the file replacement alone. A potential file to investigate to fix this is CredentialUIBroker.exe I found a way to fix this by replacing credprovhost.dll with the version from 1607. Unfortunately, this breaks the Windows logon screen, making it go blank. Therefore, it is necessary to enable DLL redirection running on cmd: reg add "HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Image File Execution Options" /v DevOverrideEnable /t REG_DWORD /d 1 Then, create a folder called logonUI.exe.local and place the current version of the DLL inside it. This will fix the logon screen and allow the display of the credentials screen. Note: I tested this with ConsoleLogonHook (the only side effect that i saw was that the loading circle was with a black background). I really don’t know if it will work on the stock logon screen.
