Hi i try to find a way to have classic control panel items like windows 98 , 2000 or Xp witch uses Dialog box instead windows control panel UI For windows Settings On windows 7 or later.
For example i relapse windows 7 time-date.cpl with windows 2000's version. in system 32 and syswow64 folder and it works.
it can show the clock and calendars in classical style and even you can change windows time an date and apply it.
(windows 7's original) (windows 2000's one working correctly with windows 7)
but now i want to do this with Desk.cpl a dialog box witch contains Background , Screen Saver , Appearance tab (witch is in personalize in windows 7) and Effect , web and settings Tab (with is in Display properties or other control panel items in windows 7)
when i try to open windows 2000's desk.cpl my windows automatically open the original one in system32.
i don't know what will happens after replacing this file in system32 and syswow64. i don't think that will be working correctly.
Because the windows 7's desk cpl is use windows UI but Windows 2000's one uses Simple Dialog Box. is there any way to fix this?
(Windows 7's Personalize) (Windows 98 or 2000 Desktop properties)

To me it seems the date and time panel did not change much, this is default from Win11:

raminmahzad regarding desk.cpl, you can find a version from ReactOS here. Note that it only half-works, it will change wallpaper/screensaver/resolution, but it does not index color schemes on your system and trying to change system animations will crash the explorer, if i remember correctly, because Windows got rid of them long ago and will just get confused. You don't have to replace desk.cpl with it, in fact, you shouldn't, just opening it in a folder should work.

Also you have to restart your windows after replacing the files.
Not: Take Back up and restore point before doing that.
By the way i attach my modified windows 2000's timedate.cpl to more look like windows 98 Se one. you can try with this file again.
it is possible that the classic clock and calendar animation has been removed from Windows 11, and the file that you replaced will still Call the modern clock and calendar resource.

Seems like you have misunderstood me. My post was about ReactOS desk.cpl and the way it works on Windows 10/11, since you were asking for a version of a file that can work on modern system. I have no idea why are you talking about timedate.cpl, since i never mentioned it above and have no issues with it, and also stated that i have not replaced any of the original files since there was no need in it for me. My preference is making an approximation of Win2000 Control Panel with shortcuts to specific items for a more faithful look, and leaving existing Win7-style Control Panel with its items be. I modified a fair bit of system files for my setup, but i prefer not to do it when its not needed, since it's still quite a pain in the neck.
