I am able to get an up button in windows 7 file explorer using classic shell, which looks like this:
Since windows 10 file explorer already has an up button, classic shell doesn't provide it. When using aero theme with DWMBlurGlass, it looks like this:
Forget about being ugly, it is hardly even visible. I need the functionality of up button. I understand that there are alternatives to this, for example I can hide it and use breadcrumbs, but I am accustomed to using it since long.
So I want to ask if someone knows of a way to show aero up button in windows 10 file explorer as well. It fits perfectly with the aero theme.
I tried searching but couldn't find anything. If there is a thread somewhere on this forum already explaining this, please point me to it.

For what it's worth, you can use the Up button from early Windows 8 betas. The icon is stored as a resource in shell32.dll.

i tried replacing the arrow icon in the .dlls which didn't work well. The up-arrow is scaled down. I guess it must be scripted due to the "mouse hover" style.

Windows 8 beta arrow looks better in my opinion. To replace the Windows 10 arrow, simply replace the resource in shell32.dll.mun. IconGroup16818 1.ico (11.04 KB) There are two variants. A blue variant and a gray one. Attachments:IconGroup16817.ico (11.04 KB)
