I've finished my modification of this theme : Many bugs fixed I changed some buttons (navigation, searchbox) to look like windows 7 I added a version without a gradient in titlebar In case anybody is interested : uptobox.com/5tnm3mahaec2or 1fichier.com/?gl0zzfqo0x02oooc0i6sor nitroflare.com/view/D832697DEFF8CAE/Classic7_%28v.2023-07-19%29.zip or rapidgator.net/file/a57347a609dcdffe4cd0c130b98745d7/Classic7_(v.2023-07-19).zip.htmlor fboom.me/file/6865631dc85e6/Classic7_%28v.2023-07-19%29.zipor turbobit.net/pzswjle84nbf.htmlEDIT : I replaced the file, I had forgotten to put the shell subdirectory !! (It can't work without it!!!) if you downloaded the 1.1Mb version, please dowload it again ! As usual, just copy the files in /windows/resource/ themes, only tested on Window 10 LTSC 2021 iot, but it should work on Windows 10 1903 to 21H2 at least (the original classic theme worked with ltsc 2019) and remember : ALWAYS make a restore point JUST BEFORE any attempt, if you get a black screen : don't panic, after 3 failed boots windows should automatically launch a menu where you can restore the system, if not, just boot an installation disk/usb key and you should have the same menu to restore the system

I tried using this windhawk mod : winclassic.net/thread/2131/square-caption-buttons with my classic7 theme on ltsc 2021 iot but unfortunately, it had absolutely no effect ! I don' know why? (EDIT : maybe a problem with symbols affecting windhawk ) I don't use windhawk because I can never get a good result... for instance, I installed legacy copy dialog, it worked, I don't know why, because the last time I tried, it did nothing or worse, it made believe it copied files, but the copies were 0 bytes ! Ohh... I wish I could have the square buttons ! The only bug left in classic7 theme is the name of a selected directory that disappears when the name is too long for the window... I could change that but I would mean removing all the customization of that part... it displays white on white and it's hardcoded ! too bad... The bug exists with malvina2's theme but worse...

You just have to wait for Microsoft to put the symbols back online, what happened is not the fault of the Windhawk developer. The symbols are being archived, no worries there. What seems complicated is updating the affected mods to redirect the downloading of symbols.

I noticed that the windhawk mod "Classic Explorer Treeview" can solve the problem with the directory name too long apprearing blank, it looks a bit weird tough... I added a lign at the bottom of file explorer command module because I think it looks better that way, but using the mod makes if ugly, so I removed the lign, here is the file with the new version, better for the Classic Explorer Treeview mod : Classic7 v.2024-06-15.7z (744.46 KB) I also activated the square caption button mod, but the result is not satisfying, the mod is made for malvina2's theme, but it would require a fork to work for this one ! (I could try to tinker with it but I don't know how to do it, if someone could tell me what to change !) First, I never noticed that the real classic buttons are not square (but almost : there are 16x14 pixels), and I never noticed that the X in the close button of these mstyles classic themes is not centered!! the result with the square caption buttons mod looks ugly ! I could try to fix that in the theme, but the way caption buttons are drawn is very complicated and I don't have the time right now to search how to do that... The close button appears square enough (17x14 pixels) (should be 16x14) but not the other two buttons (19x14 and 20x14) (should be 16x14 also), a fork would be required...
