Go to File Explorer Settings (either using the explorer command bar or Control Panel) > View > Check Launch Folder Windows in a separate process. OMG! You're a lifesaver it works now! It looks kinda bugged/glitched but I'm pretty sure it's the problem that has been mentioned at the start of this convo, so I'll try that fix and report if everything is solved! For OldNewExplorer uncheck the enable glass option to get rid of the transparency, and use this for a working search (Will not work if you upgrade to 2004): winaero.com/restore-classic-search-in-file-explorer-in-windows-10-version-1909/

Settings window is being fixed. The task manager is a known quirk with using classic theme. You can't fix it

Yeah, you need Classic Task Manager if you don't have it already: winaero.com/get-classic-old-task-manager-in-windows-10/

It's totally fine to use the old one I'm actually loving it, it helps with the whole feeling/theme but thank you for the link, it might be helpful!

I want to use Simple Classic Theme sooo bad, but it seems to ruin my right click context menus in Explorer (My Computer, etc.) They are missing the text! Context menus were also not working on the desktop and the taskbar, until I rebooted. The taskbar was too narrow and the buttons were missing text, again, until I rebooted. I thought I was good to go but the context menus still don't work in Explorer. I'm using Open-Shell 4.4.160. Anyone know what might cause this?

You must use ExplorerContextMenuTweaker, not a perfect solution because you have to right click on something to inject. It should be in the SCT. The taskbar problem that you're discribing is that "botched" taskbar, The only solution is to replace the taskbar with another one. For the taskbar context menus, it requires TaskbarContextMenuTweaker, you would have to create a shortcut to it and put it in shell:startup to make it start in startup.

ALSO, dialog box buttons are too small! Here is the same dialog in Windows 7 with Classic-Shell (i.e., what it's supposed to look like): If it helps, here is the font I'm using for the buttons... I'm REALLY attached to it! (I've been using it since Windows 98!) www42.zippyshare.com/v/QKKW2LTH/file.html

You would have to live with it, at least it doesn't appear often.

The ExplorerContextMenuTweaker **almost** works... but nested context menus are still often missing...

The ExplorerContextMenuTweaker **almost** works... but nested context menus are still often missing... It's not perfect, but is the only thing for newer windows 10 builds.

Well, this is looking bad.... I can't use Windows Settings now. Bringing up Windows Settings only shows this: If I hit the "disable" button in Simple Classic Theme, Windows Settings now works. I'm on Windows 10 Pro x64 1909.

Well, forget everything for now I guess. I noticed UltraUXThemePatcher had an update to version 4.0.0. I had version 3.8.2 installed with no problems. So I uninstalled it and rebooted, so that I could install version 4.0.0.
This is a VPS. So on reboot, I get prompted for a login to the VPS, but after "Preparing Windows," I immediately disconnect. So I think I just bombed the VPS.
I may have to completely start over from scratch now. Boy am I sorry I upgraded.
Is UlraUXThemePatcher needed for any of the stuff in this thread? Because it sure doesn't look like it would be a good idea to install it again.

Sorry if I depressed anyone. According to the UltraUXThemePatcher author, disabling Windows 10's default "fast boot" mode should fix the problem. The system comes up and prompts for a login, but the "fast" "Preparing Windows" sequence causes problems when UltraUXThemePatcher is changed/removed/etc. The admins at the host were able to start the VPS in safe mode and edit the registry. To disable fast boot, the following key needs added: [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager\Power] "HiberbootEnabled"=dword:00000000 Once that was done, the system came back up and allowed logins again. That was scary!
