Let me preface this with saying that I'm generally not very tech savvy, but once things are explained well enough, I can catch on somewhat quickly.
I got a new windows computer, small screen, crap processor, very budget. I just want it to be able to write on. I've been considering just wiping it and installing Windows 2000 on it, but I'm not sure how well that would work. I thought maybe I could come to a happy medium by making my machine have a classic theme, only to find out that Windows apparently killed the built in option for that.
I tried using this guide: www.youtube.com/watch?v=lvqhd9jFeX8
I got a warning from Windows Defender when trying to unzip though, and decided to abandon that effort. I then decided to look up open-shell since classic-shell is now defunct. I have the classic start menu, but the shell logo really doesn't fit in and I'd love to have a more... well, classic look to the entire system.
To make this easiest on everyone, I'll go into exactly what I'm looking for, and generally what I want to use this computer for in the first place.

What I'm using the computer for:
- Writing a novel using Microsoft Word, since Docs doesn't allow the installation of my own fonts.
- Surf the internet for story stuff, or watching videos from various streaming sites when I'm bored.
- Installing retro games like Chip's Challenge or Ski-Free and the like if I can get the classic theme.
that's pretty much it for use
What I'm looking for:
I don't intend this as a list of "I have to have this, give this to me or else" things, I'll just take what I can get.
Any help would be incredibly appreciated. Thank you!
What I'm looking for:
- As genuine a classic experience is possible on Windows 10 with my build (19042.630) including:
- classic task bar with accurate start menu and start button
- classic window frame/border/toolbar. (I'm not sure what it's actually called, but I do mean the actual windows themselves, the minimize, maximize, close buttons. Like I said, not super tech savvy.)
- Classic dropdown/right click menus if possible.
- Classic sounds.
- Classic Icons
- a somewhat easy to understand, simple guide to enable/install/tweak these things
