I have always wanted to play SimCity3000 on my main PC which had been upgraded to Windows 10, but none of the CD games from the 2000's work. Not even Microsoft's own Flight Simulator runs on Windows 10. This really pisses me off. I've heard people say it's because of the CD and I need to use a no-CD patch, but all the game patching sites I can find have some sort of malware on them. I have been able to patch LEGO Island to work without the CD by simply moving some game files around, but this doesn't work on newer games. I would try to modify the game so it doesn't require a CD, but I'm a total noob at that. If anybody could help m out I would really appreciate it.

Try transferring the keys for the games to Origin. Works for Spore... ._.

Don't get me started on no disk patches for EA games. I've used to play The Sims 2 quite frequently, and the only patches I ever found either flat-out didn't work, or were just infected with malware. Then I remember when Windows 8 came out, I found out you could mount ISOs. So I got pretty excited. But after creating an ISO for Them Sims 2, it told me to use the original media!!! It got really annoying when I was playing on a laptop without an optical drive, so I had to use an external one.

Alright. Almost a year after this thread was posted, I was able to get some of my old CD games working again. I was able to run the game Need For Speed: Hot Pursuit 2 on Windows 10 by simply patching it and using a no CD patch from gamecopyworld. I also got SimCity3k working by using a no CD patch. Unfortunately, SimCity3k stutters quite a lot and the game runs much slower than it should. I have not tested out Flight Simulator 2004.
Surprisingly, I was able to run the Windows 95 game Need For Speed: High Stakes by simply downloading an ISO version of it and installing the game using compatibility settings.

On a semi-related note, EAxis actually patched the Origin version of Spore to not use SecuROM back in march. (The main goal was to update the game to use non-expired server certs, but I guess they decided to strip the DRM out while they were at it.) Now you're just forced to have the Origin client running if you want to play the Origin version. And no, you can't use the Steam overlay on the Origin version via non-Steam shortcuts anymore. (Still, it beats being limited to 5 game installs, I guess...)

But after creating an ISO for Them Sims 2, it told me to use the original media!!! Russia torrent trackers (such as rutracker.org) usually give ISOs which are recognized as original media. You mount, you play.
