hi, I'm trying to look at the contents of an old windows media player theme (Xbox to be specific) but I can't get it open on its own, and have looked everywhere for how to do so. figured someone here may know! thanks

They use the ZIP format, but making a zip file and naming it a WMZ file won't work

Hi mesmer, for me this worked: Open the .wmz file with 7-Zip and keep the window open. Mark the included .wms file and open it from the menu (file/edit). An editor opens with all relevant infos. Change the content as you prefer and save it from the editor menu (file/save). 7-Zip binds the changes in the .wmz file automaticly. You don't need to repack the archive. Or: Open the .wmz file with 7-Zip and keep the window open. Drag the .wms file outside to any folder (or extract, as you want), modify the extracted .wms file with any editor, save the .wms file and drag it back in the 7-Zip window. Before dragging back you have to delete the old .wms file in the list of the 7-Zip window, or it doesn't work (so for me). Same as above: 7-Zip binds the changes in the .wmz file automaticly. You don't need to repack the archive. Good luck classic4ever
PS: Here is a part of a classic design I recreated for WMP12 (Win 10), but it's just the main window without any side- and submenus. You have to copy it to C:\Program Files (x86)\Windows Media Player\Skins, it doesn't work in the other main folder (without "x86")
