I need to be able to run apps (testing websites in Edge, etc.) every once in a while, so I don't have ClassicTheme.exe run at startup. I just run it manually and use deskn.cpl to change the theme. If I need to run Edge or something I'll reboot. SeaMonkey looks great under the classic theme. The taskbar doesn't really bother me, as long as it's opaque.

Edge does not run when Classic theme is enabled?
Also, why the File Explorer is looking different?

Edge does not run when Classic theme is enabled? Well it's a UWP app, and UWP apps don't work with the Classic Theme, so... >.> Also, why the File Explorer is looking different? Probably just opened it prior to running ClassicTheme.exe

They do generally. At least, on Win8. Yeah sure modern apps run fine on Windows 8.x, but Windows 10 is a different beast. The worst part about this is a lot of the settings are being moved to the 'Settings' app, so we might just need an entirely new Control Panel interface for Windows 10 that works with the classic theme.

I'd agree with that, but I kinda think fixing UWP apps is arguably more important...ugh, if only there was a way to switch the Classic Theme off without logging off...

I'd agree with that, but I kinda think fixing UWP apps is arguably more important... That is true. I wish there was a way to keep Aero enabled on certain windows. ugh, if only there was a way to switch the Classic Theme off without logging off... Amen to that.

DISABLEDWM does not work for me at all in 8.1, for any program. DISABLETHEMES works for OE but not for explorer.exe. I wonder whether someone can run winlogon.exe with such flags.

Well apparently disable themes affects only 32-bit apps. I wonder how a 32-bit Win8 would look if to set it globally.

how did you manage to not get a fucked up taskbar? Just run explorer before running ClassicTheme.exe and don't restart it after, and enable the option "Run Folder Windows in a Separate Process" so you can restart those and get the Classic Theme on them but no the Taskbar...? let alone get classictheme to run? ...same way we always have? .-.
