In recent Firefox versions, it's no longer possible to use native Windows scrollbars (and therefore no classic theme scrollbars). That's why Mozilla has recreated fake Windows 10 scrollbars you can see by default in Firefox, even if you use the classic theme (or any other non-MS-theme that comes with its own scrollbars).
However, it was possible to use native scrollbars (see link) and so I opened a thread on Waterfox's github page, asking not to remove the code necessary to use native scrollbars (again, see link).
I have absoiutely no clue if this helps but maybe some of you who have a github account might want to hit the like button in my thread. I don't know if this helps in any way but it can't hurt.
The reason why I don't post this on a Firefox feedback website is that Mozilla has only recently removed the code, they won't add it just because I ask for it, but Waterfox is very similar to Firefox and they do seem to understand a little more that users don't want features to disappear for no good reason.

They just copy Chrome.

Totally, for several years since Firefox has made disastrous and incomprehensible choices on the user interface. The idiocy in all this splendor.

Yes, but that wasn't really my point...
It's true that they copied Chrome but as opposed to Chrome it's still possible to modify the GUI and also add functionality to Firefox using css-Code and scripts.
That's not as good as it was before but still better than all the other browsers out there (which all seem to be based on Chrome anyway).
And the guys from Waterfox added stuff to Waterfox that Firefox had long since removed (like a status bar or the option to move the tab bar beneath the address bar)

But that does not remove the stupidity of certain decisions (from Firefox, no Waterfox).

Yes, I totally agree with you. I've had arguments in a Firefox forum about that multiple times. In that particular forum the admin is always right and every single one of Mozilla's decision isn't just great, it's divine. And that's probably how the Mozilla devs feel as well.
It's a shame but there isn't much one can do about it.

I'm actually working on a JS/CSS scrollbar replacement (well, working is a strong word, more like bodging it together). I have yet to add arrows to disabled scrollbars but overall they are very much functional.

Really? That would be great. I'd be happy to try and report any bugs. Will they use system colors?

BTW you could even have a working throbber. If you want one: It costs a working classic scrollbar...

Can you send the userChrome files for this? This looks really good.

I'm going to release the theme on github soon, there are just a couple of things left to iron out regarding panels and tabs, hopefully in a week or so. Really aiming to get the UX as close to the real deal as i can. Granted, i can and will add more polish later but still i want at least some amount of cohesion.
