I was researching if it was possible to get 32 bit Explorer dlls to work on 64 bit Window Explorer, and although I came up disappointed, I did come across this handy little program. It allows you to open a folder in a different shell while keeping Explorer.exe running. It's intended purpose was to allow the loading of the 32 bit File Explorer located in SysWOW64 within x64 based Windows systems after MS blocked the ability to do so via modified shortcut/run command in Windows 7. On Windows 10 though, you can't, even with this program (though I've only tried 2K, 98, Vista x32, and x32 XP). What does it do? It sits in the system tray, and if you hit shift+Enter when you hover over a folder, it will open it in another shell, while keeping Explorer open. You can change the shell to whatever you want, doesn't have to be another Explorer, can be anything, even a different file manager. "Half Shell". Get it? Anyway, I've attached it to this post. It might come in handy for someone. Attachments:HalfShell.zip (369.54 KB)

I do not understand your problem, In Windows 10 and 11 UWP apps do not need Explorer running. They run in a separate process ApplicationFrameHost.

I do not understand your problem, In Windows 10 and 11 UWP apps do not need Explorer running. They run in a separate process ApplicationFrameHost. I know, but when I try to open an application dependent on ApplicationFramHost.exe without Explorer registered as a shell, it gives an error message.
Maybe it works for you, if so that's great news because it means it can potentially work for everyone.
