So i was messing around with hex editing and i finally found out how to restore briefcases into context menu that work and also work on desktop alright get ready! First grab syncui.dll from xp and rename it to xpsync.dll then hexedit it and replace all mentions of shell32.dll with xpshell.dll then grab shell32.dll from xp and rename it to xpshell.dll (no need to hex edit) and then go to regedit in xp and import .bfc in hkey_classes_root then import it into your host and go into the key into shellnew and change the command saying syncui.dll to xpsync.dll then grab syncui.dll from 7 8.1 or 10 1607 and put it and the corresponding mui in the right places and now you need to import HKCR\Briefcase and HKCR\CLSID\{85BBD920-42A0-1069-A2E4-08002B30309D} from 7,8 or 10 1607 and now restart explorer and check your new context menu and enjoy restored briefcases  |

Only problem i encountered is that u need to refresh the folder the briefcase has been created in order for it to show up and it does not create a briefcase database file

I get this error when I try to create a Briefcase btw use xp amd64 files since ive tested the dlls in a vm with only the bfc reg and briefcases reg and it worked |

Haven't tested probably not but I'll test another method that involves old 10 DLLs and I have a feeling it will be more stable I wish you success ! In any case, thank you for all these efforts. No problem man I do this because I just love making old stuff work with new stuff |

Something not mentioned here: You need to get XP's shlwapi.dll, rename it to xpswapi.dll and make XP's shell32.dll point to it. THEN it will work. Also this is useless info but for me i don't need to refresh, the briefcase just shows up

Hello I did following steps: 1. getting a copy of shell32.dll, syncui.dll and shlwapi.dll from xp x64 2. renamed the dlls to xpshell.dll and xpsync.dll and xpswapi.dll and hex edited the references. 3. copied the files to system32 5. copied 1607 syncui.dll to system32 and mui to de-de (German Windows) 4. Imported HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.bfc] registry with adjustments to dll name 5. [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Briefcase] import 6. [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{85BBD920-42A0-1069-A2E4-08002B30309D}] import I nor get Briefcase in the context menu, neither did i get working Briefcases. Only thing working is that the Briefcase icon reappeard on my old Briefcases. My question is did I something woring and if yes can maybe someone explain what I did get wrong? Also craft did you find out some new sutff about briefcases? |
