When you install Server 2012 (or R2, or 2016), you need to select "Server with GUI" instead of "Server Core Installation". On 2012 and 2012 R2, you can also install the UI after installation -- in PowerShell: Install-WindowsFeature Server-Gui-Shell, Server-Gui-Mgmt-Infra You can also remove them, or install only the GUI Management tools (Install-WindowsFeature Server-Gui-Mgmt-Infra),

I think, now AHK can be used to add the 3D border to the taskbar and the frame around the tray area.

You can use 'Taskbar Texture' option in Classic Shell settings with this image: (simulates taskbar edge and is easy to recolor) Just set border sizes to 3,3. Then you can apply ClientEdge to TrayNotifyWnd with AHK or zDump.

Then, WS_EX_STATICEDGE to the tray area (TrayNotifyWnd).

You're right, I mixed up ClientEdge with StaticEdge.
Taskbar texture will work if you use 'Launch folder windows in a separate process' option in Folder Options.

Thte color can be set using Control Panel, then add the necessary edges and you should get classic look (except the task buttons would be flat).

I've tried your method of applying border to Win10 taskbar and unfortunately it does not work properly, it just moves the task buttons down. Or, if you use modal frame, it looks like this:

Idk why that works, but it does .-.
