If you're like me, you prefer NOT to install ClassicTheme.exe via its traditional, default methods (by pressing the 'Install' button in its main window). Personally, I like to set it up as a scheduled task that runs ClassicThemeA.exe when a specified user logs in. So, if you also do either this or something similar, you might want to have copies of the DWM DLL files it drops in %SystemRoot% (dwm_rdr.dll, dwmapi.dll, and dwmapi32.dll) which will fix transparency issues in x64 applications. Since these files are only dropped if you install ClassicTheme.exe normally, I thought I'd upload them here so anyone can have easy access to them. Do not put these files into System32! This will more than likely cause problems.DWM_DLLs.zip (12.05 KB) 6/27/2018 Edit: Updated to include the Windows 10 DLLs as well. 2/25/2019 Edit: Updated to no longer include the dwm_rdr.dll files. Instead, I've added a script to get it from the current Windows installation. This way, it will always be the correct version. 12/25/2019 Edit: Removed the batch file for the time being, as some users have reportedly had issues with it.

Thank you. What apps do they fix by the way and is it enough to drop them to the Windows folder?

is it enough to drop them to the Windows folder? No, you have to put them in the same folder as the application's EXE. (...I think?)

If I remember correctly, you can also throw them in System32 (just remember to back up the original files before you replace them) and it will work globally. However, I'm pretty sure this will create its own set of problems.

However, I'm pretty sure this will create its own set of problems. It did effect my PC doing that. I just dropped the DLLs into that folder (backing up the original dwmapi.dll) and it broke my computer. Luckily I set a restore point or I think I used the advanced options to goto cmd and set it back.

One should not remove the original dlls because the modified ones call the original ones.

Huh, maybe I had better luck somehow? I honestly don't remember. So forget about replacing the ones in System32.

I've updated the download, details in the first post. I'm hoping it will prevent potential compatibility issues.

Can you provide separate downloads for the batch file and dwm_rdr.dll (for both 8 and 10)? I can't find dwm_rdr.dll in System32, nor in SysWOW64, so I can't do anything with the dwmapi files as programs display a "Unable to find dwm_rdr.dll" error. The closest file I can find was "dwmredir.dll", which doesn't seem to be it. Late edit but I found an alternate source: github.com/Ingan121/BasicThemer2It's in the "extras" folder.

The dwmapi dlls hack seems not to work under Win11 for PaleMoon. Maybe some update is needed?
