This project has been
I have spent the last two days working on a fork of Nik 's Classic Logon Shell 2 that's meant to replicate the Windows XP logon screen And after two days, I've finally ALMOST finished it!
It's usable, and pretty darn accurate to the original, but it still lacks some stuff. For now this login screen will only work with only one user, there's no user selector yet, but I'm planning on adding it in the near future, as soon as I figure out the code around finding users as well as finding profile pictures of users
Here's a list of stuff I still gotta add: - User account selection, for multiple accounts
- The transparency that the original login screen does when you unfocus the currently selected user
- A "Shutting down" screen is also something I have to add
In order to use it, you need to have CLS2 already installed, preferibly version 1.2, given that that's the version I got the source code from, and I'm unsure if any future versions may break it
After that, open the ZIP archive of the XPLS release and extract the contents of the XPLS folder into C:\Program Files (x86)\ClassicLogonShell . Also, make sure to terminate both LogonShell.exe and LauncherService.exe from the Task Manager before extracting them, if you can't find them, check "Show processes from all users", given that it'll probably be under the SYSTEM account.
After having done all that, you can reboot your device, and you should be getting a good ol' Windows XP login screen
JUST LIKE CLS2, THIS SOFTWARE IS COMPLETELY USE-AT-YOUR-OWN-RISK AND I DO NOT TAKE ANY RESPONSABILITY FOR ANYTHING YOU MIGHT'VE MESSED UP.

Also another problem I've got to address that I forgot to mention:
As of now, the enter key doesn't do anything, and you have to click the actual go button in order to log in. I will be fixing this in the next update, probably tomorrow, but just so you know
^ Fixed
Also, this was tested on Windows 10 LTSC 1809 if I'm not wrong, so I'm not sure if it'll work on Windows 10 22H1 or Windows 11

Looks very nice, good job! Just a question, does it have the "welcome" text when you login as well?

I made sure it had it, although it doesn't have the shadow behind it, given that I opted to use text to simulate it instead of an image. The file I extracted the assets from didn't contain an image of the welcome text, I assume its rendered by windows as normal text, but I still tried to get it as accurate as I could!
It does only appear for like a brief second before it actually logs in given that it logs in pretty fast, so you'll barely even notice the missing shadow

Are you planning to have resolution options? My screen runs at the weird resolution of 1360x768, leaving me a giant blue line at the end of the login screen (Unless its a Windows 11 thing lol)

Could you give me a bit more detail so that I might get a better idea of what's going on?

Version 1.0 of XPLS has officially released!
Changelog: -Fixed some inconsistencies and made it more accurate to the XP login screen -Fixed a bug where the "Welcome" text that comes after you log in was set way too high -You can now FINALLY login using the enter key instead of having to click the button, this'll make this 10 times more usable (I'll be damned if microsoft didn't make something as simple as an action happening after hitting enter way too complicated and unintuitive...)
I apologize if this took a long time to finally release, I know I promised I would've released the new version tomorrow. However, funny story, the president of the United States of America called me and told me there was a nuclear threat coming from internet Russian robots and that they needed me immedietely, and I had to go on a 1 week expedition against evil, with firearms, death, love, and heartbreak. I watched soldiers fall before me, and after one full week of hardous work, I finally managed to find the threat and disarm all the nuclear threats it imposed, thus, saving the world... Did anyone believe that? Alright
See ya in like next year for the next update after Joe Biden makes me disarm the forces of the fourth dimension thretening the lives of millions

Does this work on other screen resolutions? Like 1920x1080, or 1280x1024 for example?
