I discovered that with Office 2010, it creates an explorer bar that allows you to sync your files. Now, what I am wondering is- is it possible to take the code for this as a basis for custom explorer bars similar to those in 2000 and XP?
The bar is able to change depending on the file you are using, and allows you to sync your files. However, I believe there would probably be ways to add extra functionality if there is documentation.
For example, it doesn't register certain functions with My Computer, shown here:
Whereas, it will show you certain options in files such as documents, here:(will edit if this didn't work)
I do believe there may be something that could come out of this, but if not, it's still an idea.

Unless the source code is released (and officially mind you), I'm not sure there is much you can do tbh with it, unless someone is willing to painstakingly reverse engineer it.
