I always was puzzled, why Microsoft choose the word "Пуск" as a translation of "Start" in Russian. The word is associated with a command initiating immediate irreversible action, like missle launch or starting an industrial process. That's why I was afraid when I first time saw the button in Windows 95, it looked like it could start disk formatting or transformation.
The word "Старт" semantically suits better because it can mean beginning of work or learning or journey.

Did you looked in other translations? I think theres can be other non cyrylic langauge which have this problem |
