I found an interesting Explorer alternative. Why would you need an explorer alternative? Well, of course you don't NEED one but given the fact that this is the WinClassic forum and that many people are looking for a way to make newer versions of Windows look and feel more like older versions, an Explorer alternative could be interesting.
What I found is Tablacus Explorer. What's so special about it is that it is highly customizeable. It uses css files and scripts (which offers the possibility to add new functions) and it seems like it's possible to change just about anything, especially the layout, i.e. the way it looks, feels and operates. Much like the way Firefox can be extremely (or easily, if you have the skills) modified.
So "out of the box" it looks like this:
and even with my extremely limited css skills I was able to change the background color (it now uses the system color) and the icons.
So if someone knows how to do it, I think it could be easily achieved to come up with something that looks, feels and operates like the Windows 95 version of Explorer. Or the one from Windows 98 or XP, even with Webview. And you could easily change the look by just loading a different layout.

It does look to be very customizable, but I think icons on the menus are a bit too big, no padding, and it looks ugly. It does seem to have potential.

I can't find a way to open more than one window. But it's an open source project so maybe that could be changed as well or maybe the creator of this thing is willing to change that? trixieYes, it looks ugly but as I said: My skills are extremely limited, I can only change what's already there. It's very hard for me to add stuff, especially when there is no css file for this thing. But I'm very convinced that it could be done.
