What is everybody's taskbar of choice? I've been using the native taskbar w/ openshell, but the missing caret ^ bug in the tray for the show hidden icons irritates me. Other than that I love the customization of the native bar.

After the open-shell patch and windhawk mod for native taskbar coming into play the choice on Windows 10 is very much a no-brainer.

RetroBar with the Vista classic theme for me. I like the Windows 7 classic look, and using the native taskbar with patched Open-Shell causes Windows Explorer windows to have Client Edge due to the mitigations needed via ExplorerPatcher/Windhawk, which Windows 7 didn't have. A version of those which fixes the taskbar without adding Client Edge to Windows Explorer would be perfect for me and I would probably switch at that point.
RetroBar is also just very convenient; the only thing that bugs me about it is the lack of a clock pop out on Windows 10, but I imagine this is something they'll fix in the future.

What is "classic maximize/minimize" and why it needs disabling DWM? 2. Why disabling DWM prevents you using standard taskbar?
I have never heard about the both of these issues.

The animations for minimize/maximize which isn't possible without disabling dwm, the taskbar looks broken since for me the buttons are small and aren't customizable and they aren't themed to look like windows classic elements, also the tray overflow wont work for obvious uwp reasons so the only solution is retro bar (i tried Aubrey's wind-hawk tray mod but that didn't work either)

Tray has no UWP elements, so I do not know what you are talking about.

Im talking about the classic animation that you would see in xp and previous where the title bar would minimize/maximize, the mod wont theme properly for me as seen in this screenshot: and the popup tray (where hidden icons are stored) is what im referring to as uwp, the tray itself isnt. Also the clock is also broken

I'm also having this issue with the tray, I made a seperate thread about it. The button to show/hide icons is broken for me and I can't get it to look like golddl's screenshot.

Is there a way to get it without using explorer patcher because it wont install on v1511 There is a Windhawk mode called "Classic Explorer". Tried it out, It somewhat fixed the taskbar although hovering over programs makes the buttons pushed and the buttons are still too narrow, big issue is the tray seems to be more broken now (the start menu is broken as well but that should be fine with open shell anw)

You need the patched OpenShell DLL and proper registry settings for OpenShell (opaque, etc).
