It is possible to get these on Windows 7, however it has some bugs 1. On the logon screen, there is an Other User button 2. In the Start Menu, there is a empty button in place of the shutdown button, and when you click on it you get the classic shutdown dialog 3. The startup sound will not play by default, this is because Vista and 7 use different resource IDs for this. You can fix this bug by importing Vista sound from imageres.dll to Windows 7 imageres.dll
Also, this won't work with Windows 7 logon background changer, you have to manually change imageres.dll for that.

If you do not have a password set on your user account, you can go to netplwiz and disable this option: So that on bootup you won't have to select your user account on the login screen, straight from the startup orb animation to the desktop.

Really cool, BTW. Out of curiosity, how on Earth did you get Vegas Pro 21 working on Windows 7??

I just installed it. But it seems that I used an early version, build 108. Though I had to replace one file to get the render dialog to work.

You can also get the orb at startup by using authui.dll and logonui.exe from Windows Server 2008 R1, if the file versions are updated to build 6003. This does have some small issues though, such as a blank user account being shown on the login screen if there are more than 1 user account. If you're not using the Vista background, the white text may be difficult to read against 7's blue wallpaper as Vista's logonui does not draw shadows around text.
Edit: I feel silly, I just realized this is exactly what you did ;P Still quite intriguing how Vista/2008 has been updated to such a point that these files work on 7. Not even authui/logonui from betas of 7 can be plugged straight into 7 RTM+.
