When you hit the keys Ctrl-Alt-del so this screen appears which lets you choose to open task manager or to restart Windows etc. and go back to Windows, your set Windows colors will be gone and every window will be white instead.
That's been happening since I've first heard about classic theme on recent Windows versions but I wonder why that is and where Windows retrieves its colors from (Registry, yes, but where) and how to change that behavior.

You can rename this registry key to fix. HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Themes\DefaultColors

Personally, I prefer to rename this key :
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Themes\DefaultColors\Standard This avoids cutting off the possibility of using a high contrast theme.
