I'm aware of that. It seems to me that the main problem is that you have to restart the system to apply the changes. If anyone can develop a Windhawk mod to achieve this, that would be great.

I don't get what you meant by that, really. It was supposed to be a question. Sorry if I confused you

They changed the Start menu in 20H2 to not have the user's accent color as a background on tiles and programs on the all apps list, as well as to have a fluent folder icon in the all apps list, the same seen in Windows 11. That is controlled by a feature flag. I seriously doubt they would keep the RTM start menu alive locked behind a feature flag, especially considering I don't believe the feature flag system even existed back then.

I remember managing to successfully use the feature flag; I just don't remember if it was under 21H2 or under 20H2.

The OP asked if it is possible to return the start menu to the style as seen in Windows 10 RTM, where it didn't immediately display the app list and so on. This isn't possible with just ViveTool. But yes, you can revert the folder icon change and the accent color backdrop removal. Simply set the following registry key in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\FeatureManagement\Overrides\0\2093230218 EnabledState must be set to 0

Anyway, I remember hearing that the RTM Windows 10 Start menu was baked into explorer.exe, though I'm not sure how much truth that holds.

On the other hand, thanks for the tip, that's what I couldn't remember.

Sorry for the massive bump, but is there any way to do this, what if we replace startexperiencehost with the one from 1507

I'm really needing this feature for Windows 8.1, I've tried DirectStart, ViStart + Skin and nothing is solid. The only way to get the menu is to use a debomb build of 9845 but then I can't side load Windows Server 2012 R2 updates to Windows 8.1 x64 using that build.
