Hi all. This is my first post. First off, this site is amazing, thanks for all this useful stuff. I am currently on Windows 8.1 that I made my own XP Luna theme for years ago. I am thinking of switching to Windows 11 and wish to make it as close to XP as I can, or at least my version of it.
I have been fiddling about with a Windows 11 installation on another HDD and am trying out some of the resources here. The thing is I have tried both EP and Windhawk and at first glance they both seem to do similar things and I can't figure out if I need both of them or just one and if so which one? Is there things one can do that the other cannot? Do I need them both to successfully recreate classic windows? If not which is the better of the two to have?
I've searched this site and online and cannot find an answer.
Many thanks
ps oh also there is SCT.FEH.exe Do I need that along with those or is it no longer required.

Windhawk in of itself won't do much, it's a tool that allows you to download certain mods. Some of these mods may be ports of ExplorerPatcher's functionality. ExplorerPatcher to my knowledge doesn't work with 24H2 that well. There have also been some conflicts reported between ExplorerPatcher and Windhawk. SCT.FEH is garbage and shouldn't be used anymore, unless you don't plan to use Windhawk at all.

Thanks for the advice. Yeah I realise that you download mods for Windhawk which made me wonder if all the settings of EP are available in Windhawk with possible extra things that might benefit. I was also wondering about the resources that they both use. That's interesting about EP not working with 24H2 as that is the version I have installed.

You should specify what you are aiming to achieve. Both Windhawk and EP have functionality that is unique and that is shared.

Hi. I wish to make it as close to XP as I can. * Enable the Win10 taskbar, which can be done via registry or via EP, EP is more convenient. * Full File Explorer context menu, this can be done with EP or registry. * De-metroify context menus (EP or Windhawk, Windhawk is better for this)
* Disable the tabs and revert to Win7 Command Bar, this can be done with EP or Windahawk (or maybe registry)
* Enable SysListView32 (EP or Windhawk) * Classic file picker (Windhawk) * Classic tray flyouts (EP) * Classic tray padding (7+TT) * Classic taskbar button context menu (7+TT) * Classic Alt+Tab (EP or registry) * Classic treeview in Explorer (Windhawk) * Remembering of folder window positions (Shellfolderfix) * Removing of Navbar (EP or Windhawk, Windhawk is better) * Removing the Command Bar (Windhawk) * Removing the Action Center icon (EP or Windhawk) * Removing the Show Desktop icon (7+TT) * Disable taskbar groupping (7+TT) * Remove Libraries (registry)

Thank you this. I plan on using Retrobar so I suppose I am not too bothered with the Taskbar stuff although I cannot shrink it to make Openshell startmenu sit properly on the Taskbar. Going by your instructions I need both EP and Windhawk?
