I am not sure where to ask this and I've searched and searched online but can't get an answer.
On my windows 11 installation some folders have that open folder icon with a thumbnail in it showing what the folder contains, some don't. Any new folders I make does not show any thumbnails at all. If I go into customise folder and select a 'folder picture' this does not show on the folder at all! If I drag a file into one of the folders that shows a thumbnail and hit refresh the folder icon changes to one without a thumbnail and there's no way to get it back to the thumbnail one.
Most of the things I read online says Windows 11 removes the ability to show thumbnails on folders but then other search results shows that Windows 11 can do just that. They cannot both be right. Also, if the option is no longer available in Windows 11 like it was in Windows 10 and earlier, why are some of my folders showing thumbnails?!!!! Why is the option to personalise it and add a photo there?? Also in CustomiserGod (which won't run in 11) I can clearly see the two icons that make up the thumbnail folders. One icon is the back of the folder and the other is the front part.
I am completely confused!
Also just to make clear, I have unchecked always show icons and never thumbnails so that's not it.
Does Windows 11 show folder thumbnails or doesn't it. If so, how can I make mine do so?

On 21H2 there was no option for folder thumbnails, but since 22H2 it is there.

Ah but mine being 24H2 I wonder why it's not working. Did they remove it again?

Seems to be a bug on your side, not a lack of functionality. Windows 11 is a really buggy OS, what is to be expected from it?

I managed to figure out what was causing it. I am currently working on an XP icon pack for Windows 11. For some reason my imageres.dll.mun I am currently changing icons in is causing the issue. Swapping back the original version the thumbnails started working again. What still appears to be buggy in 11 though is that if you select a photo to be the thumbnail it doesn't seem to update on the folder until I put a file in there.
