Does anyone know why Show Desktop doesn't work with DWM off

I'm on 1809 and tried disabling DWM with "NoMoreDWM" and now, every time I try showing the desktop, whether it be by pressing Win+D or clicking on a "Show Desktop" shortcut on my Quick Launch toolbar, it does nothing.

Is this caused by DWM not running?
