Unique icon style in Office 2003 and SQL Server 2005

Has anyone noticed that Office 2003 and SQL Server 2005 have unique icons? They are the identical as the icons you see in Windows 9x, but with high color / true color. For me these icons are perfect for "Windows Whistler", in the ideal sense of the word.
Although this topic may have been discussed a long time ago, if anyone has the same idea as me, I’d love to hear.
