This is pretty faithful to the real thing. These are 3RVX skins, so of course, you need that if you want to use them: 3rvx.com/Both skins can be downloaded here, both are pretty complete, the only thing that needs work is the OSD (not happy with either skins, but you can disable it so you just have the slider). Working on an XP variation now, but it's still pretty early - will post it when I finish. I used this skin "Classic Shell" (heh), by Yesdeva on DeviantArt as a base for these skins' OSD, so full props to him for that. Volume tray icon and slider (as well as editing the OSD) were by yours truly. EDIT: Video footage:

If you use Volume2, I've made a skin for that as well: this one does NOT include the volume slider or OSD from the above skins, just the volume icon. Just download, drop into your skins folder and switch over to it. Attachments:Windws Classic.lsk (536 KB)

Why not take the nt5 beta original files and just use them?

Because I can't code and taking screenshots and cutting them up to make skins for a volume control program is the best I can do.

Thank you for those NT5 Beta CPLs, I didn't even know they existed. I've had a quick look in Resource Hacker, but not everything is displaying as it should, so I'll have a look at grabbing a build of Whistler and making a skin of the volume control that way.

Love the update, just installed. I made my own Eject image for Windows 10 SE (my semi-fictional build) I only just realised I made it in cream colour only and I didn't save a PSD. Will be making a new version soon. I can't seem to make the program ding when I click the slider button. I have the Microsoft DING! sound effect, but I am not familiar enough with 3RVX to do this. Enabling sound effects didn't seem to do it, at east not that alone. Any clues?

Update 1.1 (Unofficial): -----------------------------
- Mini OSD (VERY W.I.P) (There's still the old OSD if you prefer that) -Fixed Cream Themes Knob and Fixed Background < Before After > -Changed "Author: RetroJackal" to "Author: RetroJackal/Modified by Hayafumi" Classic Volume 1.1.zip (59.88 KB) (Edit: I got mixed up with "Screen" and "OSD" i'm sorry about that.)

I really like this, so I made a few edits to it for my theme. If you want to check it out, I have samples and a download in my SoaP's Stuff thread.

Thank you very much for improving the skin/s, esp your work on the OSDs. Massive improvement on that I must say (the old ones were awful tbh and needed to be redone, so cheers for your work on the new ones). And thank you for highlighting the error I made with the icon. I've re-done my skins from scratch (to correct the slider position and as well as other improvements) and have incorporated your OSDs and the correct icon. As of now they come in 4 flavours: Grey, Dark Grey, Brick and Cream. Plus, each skins comes with a non-OSD variation, so that makes 8 skins in total. Download link: drive.google.com/file/d/1s1vTHuaTQcVqA7BALUC2lNtV8Sgs8pvI/view?usp=sharingVideo: www.youtube.com/watch?v=R-pKsnuhdjEThanks again, Scamdisk. Much respect. @getting sound to work: 3RVX seems to have the option for this, but for what reason, it doesn't work. So I use Volume2, which is another volume control program, to do that. Just swap out one of the wave files included with one you want and select it. Easy as that. Other than that, Volume2 allows you to access the sound mixer and change sound device direct from it's tray menu, so that's another reason I use it.
