If you this Classic Shell skin, it'll match your theme colour.

Quick tip: If you want to make it really authentic you can disable Cleartype.
If you want to be really really authentic set the font to MS Sans-Serif.

If you this Classic Shell skin, it'll match your theme colour. Hey, I am using the skin that I downloaded from there. Is there a setting that matches the Start skin color to the theme? I believe I already have the font set to MS sans serif, if not I will check again.

Odd, I use that skin and automatically applies the theme I'm using. Only options I've enabled on the skin page in Classic Shell Settings, besides what caption I want, is 3D Border=on. There is another skin you could try www.classicshell.net/forum/viewtopic.php?f=17&t=6796As the name implies, it'll go well with your W98 theme - under it's settings in the Skin tab, set the option to "Windows Default" and that should change it to match your theme colouration. EDIT: This is what that skin (the second one I linked to) looks like on my setup:

You were right, I was using Tahoma! Thanks, switched to MS Sans Serif. Odd, I use that skin and automatically applies the theme I'm using. EDIT: This is what that skin (the second one I linked to) looks like on my setup: As far as the start menu goes...I also have 3D Borders checked, but it says that it only works for Windows 7 with Classic Theme. I have Classic Theme turned on using the batch script, but interestingly some windows, like the Windows 10 apps, still show up in the native Metro theme, which I can still change the color for. Not sure if that's the reasoning or not. I wonder if ROB can chip in? Is there any way to change the white background color of the Classic Shell start menu? Thanks for the link to that second start menu, I'll check it out.

I understand why your Start menu is white now - go into Display Properties, go to the scheme you're using, and then scroll down to Menu. Does the colour select box match this? Just change it to the colour you want, save, and apply. That should do it. As for UWP/Metro apps, AFAIK, no, it's not possible to change the colour. Not unless you apply dark theme or a high contrast theme from the UWP settings app.

I'm curious if that classic shell theme is available for the Windows XP layout Yes. The Classic Shell theme for Windows XP is available. You can also fairly easily fake the taskbar. But as far as I know, there is not a way to restore the actual Windows XP theme.

where can I download this theme You can't: this is not something that takes five seconds to download and install. I wish it were, but it ain't. Check out the Classic Theme Section of these boards, and check out the threads there to get started.
