Is there any way to skin these buttons?

Yes, you'll need to modify ExplorerFrame.dll using Resource Hacker. Look for bitmap resources 280 and 281 for the backgrounds, and 582, 583, and 584 for the buttons themselves.

Ok, So i tried modifying one file. I replaced the ExplorerFrame.dll with the one that had the custom button.
After I replaced it File Explorer would not open. I had to do sfc/ SCANNOW to get File Explorer to work.
If it helps, I'm trying to make a Windows XP-esque theme for it.

Could you send me the bitmaps you're trying to use?

Could you send me the bitmaps you're trying to use? Yeah. Bitmap582.bmp (7.37 KB) So far I've only replaced one of them. As a test.

Hmm, there doesn't seem to be anything wrong with the bitmaps. Are you using "Save As" in Resource Hacker, or are you saving a copy of the file?
