Today I finally put a stop to W10's bullshit (it unconfigured a lot of program settings with today's update) and installed W8.1. When I proceeded to set the classic theme something happened with the taskbar (For some reason the Classic3 theme of startisback++ doesn't work on W8 and it did in 10 so I can't use that program here) First of all, I use Classic Shell with a W98 taskbar texture. No problems here. This is how it looks without classic theme enabled: Then I read I can have the classic window buttons if I restart explorer.exe. So I did it. This time, unlike in W10, there was a good context menu, but the taskbar looked like this: Does anyone know how to solve this problem?

Why do u need that W98 texture? Just use the classic theme and set the colors to your wish.

You don't need a taskbar theme in W8.1. Unlike W10, the taskbar works fine once you get rid of that weird tint/transparency issue.

if all else fails use this png in classicshell:) storage.proboards.com/6513581/thumbnailer/oVtHTMffWQCoXeMwLZdh.png About todays update i will install it fresh from start and test it , with all these nice classicmods we got it will be good . I would never go back to any windows as long as we can get full classic theme besides i already closed automatic updates in services.msc 16 bit amigo win + r then go to windows update close and disable

I would agree that skinning the taskbar is not the best way to go on Windows 8.1, as you can get an accurate Win98 style taskbar that actually uses the real classic theme. To fix the transparency issue, stick these DLL files in the same directory as explorer.exe

I think he wants same color as startbutton in win8 days i never used any program at all and run classictheme.exe and the classic theme all the way no need for any other programs no need for startisback because the taskbar is not destroyed

To fix the transparency issue, stick these DLL files in the same directory as explorer.exe I tried it and I had to restore my system. Explorer.exe opened and closed itself constantly. Do you know what happened?

I'm following all your steps. How can I do steps 3 and 4? I know how to use the task scheduler but I've never done it with commands. Edit: mevermind. I did it myself by modifying the Userinit reg value manually. Now my taskbar finally looks good.

Okay, forget about my last comment. It doesn't fully solve the problem. What I did was to edit the userinit reg key so it started classicthemeA.exe before userinit.exe and it only works well when restarting session (closing session and then logging in again). It doesn't work when I turn on the computer or restart. So my question still needs an answer: how do I create those tasks with the commands? The windows task scheduler only gives me the option of creating tasks by using the assistant. I see no console to input commands.
