Hello! I'm running Windows 8.1 Version 6.3 version 9600 with Classic shell, OldNewExplorer, and ClassicThemeA.exe set as a scheduled task. Everything works perfectly save for the taskbar, which is using a light blue font making most text nigh-unreadable, as can be seen below. Is this a common issue? If so, how do I correct it? If not, does anyone know what might be causing it? The only thing I can think of that might cause issues with the taskbar is uxstyle, which I have installed but am not currently using. EDIT: I have confirmed that the appearance of the taskbar has, for some reason, been tied to the "window borders and taskbar" colors as set by the default windows 8.1 control panel. Is there any known way to correct this?

Are you using the DWM DLLs? If not, put them in the same directory as explorer.exe.

I described here www.winclassic.net/thread/43/windows-classic-theme-resident-programs two methods of fixing this issue. Combination of points 5 and 6 should fix the problem. Also, do not forget disabling transparency in ClassicShell properties. Alternatively, put SetWindowCompositionAttribute.exe class Shell_TrayWnd blur false into autostart (the utility can be downloaded from the linked post).

A combination of both of your suggestions fixed my issue!
The registry edit corrected the font color and the DWM dlls corrected the black splotchiness of the taskbar.
At some point in the future I'll probably fully implement anixx's method so I won't have to restart explorer.exe every login, but until then my current setup satisfies me. Thank you both so much!

In the linked post there is a program fixstrips.exe which removes those black strips without using additional dlls.
