Also, I originally intended to use the stock Windows 95 icons, and they look perfectly fine applied, but the 'cool.dll' icons support 48x48, are full colour and look the part

You know, the vertical interval between items in the tree can be reduced using Classic Shell. I have it at -3 which is like in Win95-WinXP.

But how did you get the window borders and especially the thick line between the navigation pane and the main part of the window?
