Guys, I have a problem. My system is Win 8.1 and recently both the quick startup and restore points stopped working.
At the same time, the hibernation works as it should.
This happened after I run the disk manager from Win NT 3.1 beta (from 1992), it asked for elevated rights and I granted. Then before starting it said "updating disk information".
I suspect this happened because that disk manager did not know anything about modern NTFS and could write wrong file system info somewhere.
Repairing MBR and boot via recovery console did not help (possibly the problem in the registry).

If it is the registry that needs fixing, then you might be able to restore it via the backup the system generates every month or so in C:\Windows\SysWOW64\config\RegBack. I went through something similar a number of months back, and that saved my bacon. Worth a try at least: pureinfotech.com/restore-registry-backup-windows-10/

Well, I looked in Windows\system32\config\regback, and there indeed the registry files but they are dated with today's date

Besides a clean install, I don't know what else to suggest. Sorry.

Is it screwed or fine now? It is still bad. I have to use hibernate even though I prefer hybrid start.
