There is a lot of news of a Windows 10 redesign with almost everything being fluent design. But this could ruin the classic theme in Windows 10 making it unusable. If that happens, what would happen to this forum and the classic theme itself? I am kind of worried if the classic theme gets ruined by a redesign that makes almost everything fluent design.

What will the redesign affect?

This will be literally the bane of my existence (in computers anyways). I'm going to be on 1903 forever anyways, so it won't really affect me, but still it's going to be bad. I'm the one who voted "No" btw.

Telephonization of computers continues... I wonder why Microsoft always makes computers look like telephones. My computer is not a phone neither a tablet.

Nadella once said that the desktop market was dying and everyone will use pads instead in the future. He said Microsoft should learn from Apple who mostly re-based their business towards mobile devices. He is a big fan of Jobs.

The classic theme works with Win32, not UWP.
and no, the classic theme is not be usable after a complete Fluent design redesign. MS might not delete the old codes.. Maybe. But, I don't think so.

I really wish Bill (and Steve to an extent, due to me also using linux) didn't leave MS. They would have made a much better Windows. Nadella's vision for Windows is super flawed, and so is metro/""UWP"". I hate touchscreen elements on a non-touchscreen display and I will still be using a mouse and keyboard even on "pads" (it's just easier to use that way). Unless if Microsoft makes seperate OSes for Laptops/Desktops and Tablets just like Apple did with iOS and MacOS (iOS and MacOS are based on the same kernel, so why can't M$ base a separate mobile OS on NT?) in the next year or so, I will be installing LTSB 2015 and will not be dealing with modern Windows 10 anymore, and also using Linux more.

Honestly I feel you. My PC isn't a phone nor tablet. Heck even in 8.1 it was easy to get replacements and turn off updates (IIRC).

why can't M$ base a separate mobile OS on NT? Because they already did. They had Windows Mobile, and conceded it failed. So now they say they will make one OS for all devices.

I don't really think this will completely remove the ability to use Classic Theme. As long as it's NT based, the theme resides in the kernel and a way for it to be used should always exist. They will probably only redesign all default applications (notepad, file explorer, management console etc.) to UWP apps.

There are alternatives to explorer and notepad such as explorer++ and notepad++, but for Management Console there are no alternatives. Also, I use it almost on a daily basis. I do not want to suffer with using metro.

I think they will start with the apps that non-powerusers use. The management console might not even be touched at all, it was just a prediction.

I just saw this thread and omg ty for even creating it in the first place! You reminded me to immidiately disable Windows Update automatic updates via group policy Hopefully the theme will still be usable in the future even with newer windows updates ^^ for the time being I'll stuck with win10 1909 lol

It'll be a long time coming. The real problem is what they'll break as time goes by IMO.

It'll be a long time coming. The real problem is what they'll break as time goes by IMO. This is pretty much the biggest issue. Windows is a huge, tangled mess of decades worth of code, and I think Microsoft would have a very difficult time completely removing the classic theme because of this (especially since MS has to worry about things like software compatibility). However, OS features are only going to continue to break with it, and 21H1 (or whatever version they're planning on pushing this with) could very well be the killing blow that many of us have been expecting for a while now. We're just going to have to wait and see what ends up happening. But given our past experience with things like this, I'm really not optimistic at all. At this point, I'm honestly just more curious to see how broken it's going to be than I am hopeful that it won't be broken.

I can't wait to see what M$ will do with poor old Windows and mangle it worse than Windows 8 (not 8.1) or Windows 10 1909.
