Found this taskbar program on GitHub, and I think it's a great taskbar alternative. You can change the theme of the taskbar to be 95-XP (Luna and Classic), and there's a system theme which uses the systems color scheme. github.com/dremin/RetroBarSome images:

Windows 10 1909 is also working fine. It's a really perfect taskbar.

Nice find Scamdisk, it looks amazing. EDIT: I've used it for awhile now. My impressions: What I like: - Very faithfully done. It looks and feels like the real thing. - Theme support works well. - Right click menu when you click on a task! Really missed this feature. - The taskbar properties is hugely nostalgic. - Right clicking on the Start button brings up an "Explore" context menu, just like in Win95 to XP. Really nice touch. - Context menus animate at the right speed. Very authentic. - XP theme is hats off the best: it even has the glow effect when you hover over tasks/the start button. - Lightweight asf. Noticed zero mem usage. Issues I had: - System tray icons seem to disappear at random: 3RVX icon's seems to go missing on it's own, forcing me to restart RetroBar to get it back. - System tray programs that allow you to customize them (e.g. WatchCat) defaults to the original icon. - Not all icons show. - Network flyout icon shows regardless what your settings are (I have it disabled). Features/Improvements I'd love to see: - Moveable tasks / move taskbar items around. - Be able to group taskbar items / tasks. - Move systray icons around. - Rebars on the QuickLaunch. And allow them to be adjustable as well. - Taskbar item size select: icons only, and allow lenght of the button to be adjusted. - Move the taskbar to any orientation. So far 9/10. I'm going to stick with SCTT because it has most of the features I use already implemented but I will def keep an eye out for this. The dev has done an amazing job with it, really hats off.

Does this support scaling? If so, this would be the best taskbar for higher DPI displays.
Edit: Tested it and it does. Finally a good taskbar replacement! Only if it supported Open-Shell properly, as clicking the start button to close the start menu reopens it.

This is cool software. Thanks for posting it.
It seems to override 7+ Taskbar Tweaker though, which is a bit annoying. The tray icons seem a bit glitchy, too.

What excites me most out of RetroBar is this: Gotta admit, really liking the prospect of where this could potentially lead to, I must say.

I just tried this out on Windows Sandbox (it had Windows 10 Enterprise 1903), and I really LOVED it. My opinions are completely the same as The Jackal 's, but in addition to them: - I would like to see the taskbar and start menu image preview change when you select a different skin (for example, XP skin shows taskbar and start menu image preview, 2000 shows the 2000 explorer's taskbar and start menu image, and so on, but I guess that's difficult to add)
- Would like to have the option to Turn on/off ClearType. I mean, 2000 and 95-98 and System and ME have ClearType off, causing it to show the classical text style.
- Have the start button pressed when start menu is opened. (It immediately returns to normal state once clicked)
- Only 1 instance of RetroBar properties open. It doesn't make sense to have multiple instances having the same settings (when you change a setting from the first one and the other one changes, showing up the changed setting.
- Windows Whistler Watercolor, Beta 1 (the one with the green shine on the start button), longhorn skins (plex, slate, aero, beta 1, beta 2).
That's all. Otherwise I liked RetroBar. (sorry for bumping and sorry for expressing my opinions late, forgot that sandbox exists to test such things like this one) But also, Found this taskbar program on GitHub, and I think it's a great taskbar alternative. You can change the theme of the taskbar to be 95-XP (Luna and Classic), and there's a system theme which uses the systems color scheme. github.com/dremin/RetroBarSome images: You should've mentioned that it requires .NET Core to run. Because of that, I got this error while opening it on sandbox: But it was simple to solve though. I just pressed Yes and downloaded the core and ran it to install and RetroBar worked.

Tried this out and it looks really good. As Clasurol said, it misses some features like moving things around but the devs are onto something. I really enjoy how the theming engine is just so perfect. It seems to idle at about 50MB RAM and 0% CPU which makes it very lightweight compared to for example SCTT.

It'd be better if the features Clasurol mentioned (but not all, just some of them), become options in the RetroBar properties in my opinion.

I'm pretty sure that it because Discord itself works weird with Classic Theme. Not RetroBar

Bug found with using ClassicShell/OpenShell with RetroBar
I can't open 2 or more popout menus because it just closes out of it. Has anyone else experienced this?
