Disabling ClearType and enabling "Standard" font smoothing

You may have noticed that in older versions of Windows, there's an option for "Standard" font smoothing, which smooths only some fonts, with most fonts remaining unsmoothed.

A great example of a font that is smoothed by Standard font smoothing is Arial, bold.

Anyways, most people just go into Advanced System Settings, and completely disable font smoothing.

While that is an okay way of going about classic looking fonts, for the system, it does not play nice with custom webfonts.

A great example is Discord.

Look how ugly that font is. It's so jagged looking!

Now, while some say you should use alternate fonts (Tahoma, Arial, etc.), I'm here to say you don't have to!

You can use the ClearType Tuner (cttune.exe) to enable Standard font smoothing.

Now you can have your sweet sweet aliased fonts without ruining other fonts!
