Strange situation, it seems to me that everything in the registry is as it should, but the address bar does not work. It happens that the toolbars malfunction in an unpredictable way. I have already happened in the past to lose the open-shell toolbar suddenly. I had used a restoration point to solve the problem, I have never understood the cause of the problem.

It works! I had to replace shell32.dll bitmaps whcih contained the xp logo with browseui.dll old bitmaps and it worked. Now i have a perfect replica of the 2000's explorer I failed it. The question is, from which version of Windows XP x64 did you extract the dll? Also, according to R.O.B., Open each file in a hex editor, and replace any instance of the other files with the renamed versions. However, I don't know whether to replace shdocvw.dll or the extension shdocvw.pdb, for example. I don't know if I can replace the url of function HandleError (message, url, line) with xpu. Please tell me that.

I have tested Download Status on Win10 1903 by patching the required DLLs from XP x64 and adding the required bitmaps to shell32.dll.mun
It won't show up properly, even after re-positioning it.

I would like to ask someone who has succeeded in displaying the explorer bar and download status in the modded DLL of XP.
is. I don't understand the meaning of the change method instance. Also, I don't know which character to replace.
I extracted and modified the dll from Windows XP Professional x64, but it failed.
Can you give me a hint?

Alright so I did change the real classic address bar height thanks to 1337ftw or let's sct.feh (just press alt a or shift a in explorer and options for act.feh will appear) and no. 2 the bitmaps issue. This was a problem with me and wouldn't work even if I tried every modification on my host weirdly enough when I reinstalled ltsc on my host it works but now simple classic taskbar dosent work. Guess you win some and you lose some

Ignore the upper post by me so you need a hex editor such as hxd then open the DLLs and then open find and replace be sure to check all in where to search and be careful with the file names and if ur wondering about download status that requires shell32.dll modification to add bitmaps and you need to do all kind of things such as u signing then turning off driver signature enforcement and like rob said it isn't really worth it

I FIGURED IT OUT! The reason why some bitmaps never appear on the throbber is related to shell32.dll and shell32.dll.mun add bitmaps to both files and it will work. Keep in mind you need to unsign shell32.dll then modify it and turn off driver signature enforcement otherwise your system will become unbootable

Any details on how to get the classic folders pane (any method, either ReactOS browseui or modded XP DLLs) or the tip of the day? Also, would it be possible to bring back the 98-2000 Web pane without having to do the hack with FindXer? It seems to be in XP as well, but I have no idea what the reg key is to activate it. I was never really able to figure out the web pane, or really any web-related content outside of Explorer panels. It seems that Microsoft has really limited the ability to display web content in folder views. Might be possible, but I never had any luck with it. About the modded XP DLLs, i am not sure, i hope R.O.B. posts a how to get the XP folders pane. About the ReactOS browseui method, it has a annoying bug where it does not sync with the folders. You also need to turn off everything that modifies the navigation pane in Classic Shell. If you want to use ReactOS's browseui.dll anyway, extract browseui.zip in the attachments to: C:\reactfm Open regedit, Take ownership of the {EFA24E64-B078-11D0-89E4-00C04FC9E26E} CLSID, and apply the reg file in the attachments. The way you're doing it with the ReactOS browseui is pretty similar to the method I used for the XP one, minus some hex editing and the requirement of some additional system files. I actually think the ReactOS version is probably the best way to go, as it seems to be just about as functional as the XP one (if not even more so) and is much simpler to setup. Sadly, the XP version also suffers from the same "folder sync" issue, and it will sometimes even crash explorer.exe when dragging and dropping items in it. Plus, one of the biggest reasons why I was never able to publish this was because of the difficulty of figuring out how to distribute it without sharing copyrighted Windows system files ( which I have had a bad experience with in the past and am extremely hesitant to do again). Add to that the fact that ReactOS is free and open source and I really don't see any benefit with the XP one. For the sake of documentation, however, here are the steps you need to take to use the XP version: 1) Obtain/rename the following files from Windows XP (this has been tested with the files from XP x64 Edition, but the 32-bit versions would presumably work just as well): browseui.dll - rename to xpbrowse.dll shdocvw.dll - rename to xpdocvw.dll shlwapi.dll - rename to xpswapi.dll url.dll - rename to xpu.dll urlmon.dll - rename to xpurlm.dll shdoclc.dll (no need to rename this one) 2) Open each file in a hex editor, and replace any instance of the other files with the renamed versions. For example, in browseui.dll/xpbrowse.dll, replace any instance of "shdocvw" with "xpdocvw" 3) Copy the files to system32 4) Import the attached registry file and restart explorer.exe <button disabled="" class="c-attachment-insert--linked o-btn--sm">Attachment Deleted</button> Hi dude, this is a long shot but do you happen to have those 7 files? I have tried to edit them myself but it doesnt really do anything when I try it and would like to try yours instead, especially as I used 32 bit files as I dont have access to a 64 bit copy of xp.

Unfortunately, I can't distribute them as I've received a DMCA claim in the past for sharing Windows system files. Really sorry about that.

It's also possible to get favorites and history band working by grabbing history band and favorites band clsid from a xp VM and changing the regs in both of those clsids from shlwapi.dll to xpswapi.dll. for tips of the day grab tips of the day clsid do the same thing and gab the whole collection of tips located in a registry I forgot and grab a copy of tips and tip.html from xp VM from c:\windows\web. Tips of the day will have wrong fonts which I have no idea on how to fix and history and favorites band will look way different than their XP counterparts probably related to ieframe.dll

Channel band can be restored but requires an older (standalone) version of ie and typing the command iexplore -channelband in that folder calls channel band (thanks to itslezr for figuring out how to call channel band). It also does not support drag and drop do you have to go to the channels folder and manually put your shortcuts.

Explorer Patcher now has an option to reduce the height of the address bar on Windows 11.

I was finally able to get R.O.B.'s reg file to work (it wouldn't work directly, so I had to resort to imported it in Regedit) and now have the classic Treeview/Nav Bar. Here's what I've found that I've not seen anyone comment on yet:
- The Classic Shell status bar doesn't stretch correctly - if you have the zone item on, for example, it becomes extremely noticable. - If you re-enable the Explore item in the context menu, it will break it with this. Just straight up doesn't work anymore. Though you can still call up the "new" Nav Bar/Folder view via Classic Shell Explorer if you give a button the nav_pane command. - The Explorer Bar itself resets it's self to off every time you close down a File Explorer window.
