I was finally able to get R.O.B.'s reg file to work (it wouldn't work directly, so I had to resort to imported it in Regedit) and now have the classic Treeview/Nav Bar. Here's what I've found that I've not seen anyone comment on yet: - The Classic Shell status bar doesn't stretch correctly - if you have the zone item on, for example, it becomes extremely noticable. - If you re-enable the Explore item in the context menu, it will break it with this. Just straight up doesn't work anymore. Though you can still call up the "new" Nav Bar/Folder view via Classic Shell Explorer if you give a button the nav_pane command. - The Explorer Bar itself resets it's self to off every time you close down a File Explorer window. Weird for me it works with explore |

Weird for me it works with explore Strange, just loads up an new explorer instance. It used to opne an Explorer instance with the newer nav bar/treeview on for me. Anyways, I found an oddity with the Address bar; it has a limit of 95 characters. Not sure if this is a legacy limitation (I didn't really pay attention to it on past Windows versions) or a bug caused by being left to rot for so many years. |

There is absolutely no address bar in Windows Server 2022. (I mean the one in this thread, a normal address bar would be available if I hadn't disabled it) Can anyone confirm this? Could it be that they removed the address bar entirely in Windows Server 2022 even though it is based on Windows 10 21H2?

I got it to work now in IE and also in the task bar, but it doesn't work in explorer windows.
What a piece of crap.
But I also wonder where this thing actually comes from. It isn't the old address bar, nor is it an address bar for IE nor is it anything that's ever been officially available in any Windows OS. It's just there and that's it. It's even in Windows 7 and it can also be added in Windows XP. You then have two address bars in Explorer. Strange.

Wondering the same right now. can it be fixed? if not by patching. Reactos is open source someone who knows how to code can edit this file and make it work properly (?) |

How is it loaded as a toolbar in this screenshot? Hey, sorry for the late response. To answer your question: this was achieved by registering some modified DLL files from Windows XP (please refer to my earlier post which goes into details on how to do that), adding the missing bitmaps for it into shell32.dll, and making some minor tweaks to the registry (please see the attached reg file). It's pretty messy, and as I mentioned, you are basically hacking in a bunch of unsupported Windows shell code for an end result that is ultimately disappointing. So I wouldn't really recommend doing it, however you are of course welcome to try it yourself at your own risk. }...so, um, I should probably explain where this script came from. To be honest, I had also made this discovery a while ago while performing similar experiments. I know I really should have made a thread about it, and I honestly feel terrible that I never did. I did have my reasons for not doing it, and perhaps they weren’t the greatest reasons in hindsight. Let’s just say that sometimes it’s easy to underestimate how long a project can take to complete (especially when life keeps pulling you away from it). But that’s no excuse. The WinClassic community deserves to know about discoveries like this, and thrives when its knowledge is shared. I have failed in that regard here, and I am really sorry for it. For all intents and purposes, TechSalt deserves the credit on this for actually posting about it upon discovering it. Anyway, sorry for the long-winded rant. Let’s try not to derail the thread. When i try to enable it in explorer i see download status in context menu but when i click on it nothing happens(( Did you modify/register the DLL files from XP? ok now i have another problem i decided that i would just copy original shell32 from win xp to system32 and rename it to xpshell
and i replaced all mentions of it in the hex editor but instead of the xp logo, I got the win 98 and when i replaced the browserui resources, the background still stay black
btw no matter how i try to move the dowload process to the top corner, when i open new explorer window, it returns to previous place and stretches across the entire width of window....

Probably in ExplorerFrame.dll.mui. I replaced all address string in that mui but I couldn't see any changes even address bar context menu. By the way, I have ever experienced mui (such as shutdownux.dll.mui and shell32.dll.mui) modification wasn't applied at all. I'm going to create a thread about this soon. |

idk if i'm just stupid, but i can't seem to get the classic address bar to work properly in file explorer. if i add the registry value in regedit or through a .reg file and an admin command prompt, the toolbar doesn't even show up, and if i add the .reg file through a trustedinstaller command prompt, it does show up, but for some reason it's greyed out:
the links toolbar works fine as long as i use trustedinstaller, so why on earth is the address toolbar greyed out???  nevermind, rebooted my pc and links is greyed out too

Hello, i just found something very interesting. While trying to find a way to remove the navigation bar with the registry, i found something EVEN more interesting while searching for ExplorerFrame.dll. It is the classic address bar. View AttachmentWhen i found it in the registry, this instantly blew up my mind, so i decided to Google the registry key for toolbars in Internet Explorer. To enable it, go to the following registry ley: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Toolbar
And add a REG_Binary value named: {01E04581-4EEE-11d0-BFE9-00AA005B4383}When added, open a new explorer window. Right click the menu bar and click Address. However, there is a disadvantage where the folder does NOT sync. I add this address bar under my toolbar by this way but now i have 2 of this in my windows explorer. how can i remove main navigation bar ?
