Screw the previous guide, here's a proper and easy guide on how to get Game Explorer back. 1. Download all of these files 2. Put gameux.dll and gameuxlegacygdfs.dll into System32 3. Put gameux.dll.mui into System32\en-us 4. Put gameuxmig.dll into System32\Migration 5. Put files from rcpule.7z into Syswow64
6. Import all the .reg files using TrustedInstaller CMD VERY IMPORTANT! RECENTLY I'VE SEEN SOME REPORTS OF USERS BEING UNABLE TO OPEN IT, AFTER IMPORTING THE REGISTRY FILES. MAKE SURE YOU USE 64-BIT REGEDIT!!! 7TSP IS KNOWN TO REPLACE IT WITH THE 32-BIT VERSION!!!
7. You can only open it with: shell:::{ED228FDF-9EA8-4870-83b1-96b02CFE0D52} 8. Adding stuff works properly (Seems that only with UAC off, as discovered by Brawllux): The icon being gone is an issue on 1809 and up. It used to be in imageres.dll
I found a better solution for "not being able to add games". Allow every user account to access "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\GameUX" in regedit and you will be able to add games while UAC is enabled.

so I installed the files you linked it almost worked perfectly except the fact that you can't add new games to the list I tried to drag and droop the apps or pasting a shortcut in the folder, but it just doesn't want to add them to the list it does nothing which sucks. Maybe it's because I'm on 22h2? I'm not sure does anyone know how to fix this, or if it even is fixable? Yeah, hi. I have the same issue. But I looked more into it. When testing out the folder, (works perfectly btw, thanks Jevil!) I decided to try out "shell:gametasks" just for the fun of it, and I found something. It redirects to "\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\GameExplorer" and there I saw a LOT of folders named like "{90CB7A07-0C0E-4194-A9DC-A753F8DC26C9}" and like that, and in those folders, the .lnk files to the games I tried to add! So it TRIES to add games, but to the WRONG DIRECTION!!! I now know the problem, sadly, I cannot figure out the solution myself. We're gonna need help.

Still curious to know if it's possible to add games through installation like it is on Vista/7? What I mean is that games that are listed in GameUXLegacyGDFs.dll are added to the Games Explorer after being installed. I've tried getting this to work on 8/8.1 and 10 but no luck with exception to Microsoft's games (both GFWL titles and the Windows 7 games), which populate the GameUX key in the registry and display game info like publisher name, genre, last play time, rating info (ratings appear in the registry but not in the explorer, possibly something to do with Authenticode signing), etc. I also noticed that changes made to the game keys under GameUX don't seem to reflect in the explorer as they did on 7 and before. My guess for non MS games not showing up after being installed is that the OS isn't being recognized so the functions that are supposed to happen (e.g. registering a game to the explorer) never do.

The issue with Steam games has been an issue for as long as the Game Explorer has existed.

I dragged an exe shortcut into the Games folder and now I can't delete it anymore. No right click, no key, nothing. Adding a normal exe directly works, but now I'm stuck with this duplicate exe. Also, I inserted the icon from 1703's ISO into the imageres.dll.mun folder and it still doesn't work.
What do I do to fix these 2 things?

Hehe, I encountered the first problem myself, you need to go to the registry editor, take rights for "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\GameUX",And delete the shortcut the usual way, if suddenly something is not clear to you, then I can send you screenshots. As for the second problem, you can either reboot your computer (if you haven't done so yet) or install Sevenifer with deviant art, it will replace all the icons on Windows 7, and return the icon to the game explorer (the Vista icon pack also does this)

Wait, although we now know the solution, why was it redirecting? Is this on of MS’s sneaky redirects

There is no non-english version in Game Explorer in Windows 10 22H2?

There is no non-english version in Game Explorer in Windows 10 22H2? You have to get the Windows 10 1709 ISO in your desired language and grab the corresponding .mui from install.wim For the list of files: winclassic.net/post/8739/thread (replace with your desired language's) Automated installer (replace en-US files with ones from your desired language): aubymori.github.io/#!/files/gameux

I know this is really fucking old, But where is the 64-bit regedit he is referring to?

If you didn't use 7TSP at all, you already have 64-bit regedit, and there's no need to worry. It's the default regedit that gets opened when you run regedit.exe
