Maybe you can use OpenWithView to investigate the empty slots This worked like a charm, I disabled a few programs that aren't on my pc anymore and the empty slots are gone. Thanks! |

also, for some Polish people that are reading this, i made a Polish Translation of OpenWith (if anyone is interested). Just drop the Polish.mo file into C:\Program Files\Frieger\OpenWith, change the language via OpenWith or regedit and then put the modified OpenWith.dll (the open with button when getting like the popup while trying to open a .dll file is smaller) Download - files.catbox.moe/ani7b0.zip |

Heads up, the program gets the recommended programs list via "extensions.frieger.com". Just block that domain to prevent it from being retrieved entirely, given one of the IPs may have changed.

For me it only gives a unspecified user32 error in event viewer.

I did. I also attempted deleting all OpenWith.dll-including registry keys, installing the stock version, deleting Frieger\OpenWith alltogether but nothing seems to work.

I figured out that if you block the IP addresses "172.66.40.141" and "172.66.43.115", it disables the third party programs from appearing. Blocking these didn't work, it's still showing third party programs for some reason. |

There is no need to block any address or hex edit the dll.
Just use this old Windows policy setting:
reg add HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer /v NoInternetOpenWith /t REG_DWORD /d 1
