The Jackal, I assume you use classic explorer too. Where did you get the classic icons of copy, paste, properties, etc?

Here is the same set of icons he gave me + a few I managed to rip myself. Attachments:Win98-Toolbar-Icons.rar (70.66 KB)

The Jackal , you missed the properties icon, but I found it in the forum anyway. Thank you anyway. I have one last problem with this. I use 2xExplorer too and is amazing, but I have 1 little problem with it: even though I changed the default folder and drive icons (they look completely classic when using windows explorer), they're not appearing in classic appearance in 2xExplorer. And I even changed them in customizergod. So do I have to modify an extra .dll to get those classic icons in 2xExplorer? Because I think the program is using them from another system file.

I used a program called IconChanger: iconchanger.en.uptodown.com/windowsWord of warning: it's old. Outdated. Not fully compatible with W8/10, but it's the only way I can find to change the folder icon so 2xE will see the change. It's also trialware, so you'll be able to use it for a limited time before it'll start nagging you to buy it. As long as you change the icon, it won't matter and will continue working, it's just if you try to open the program again after the trial period, it will lock you out from making changes. Download, install it and then click on any exe (don't worry, you're not going to change the icon for that). On the context menu, select "Change Icon..." and IconChanger will load up. Select the Systems Icon at the top, and then on the new window, change the folder icon to what you want. Then save, and exit. Never uninstall or touch that option again, otherwise you might have to do it all again.

I figured it out. Some programs don't pick their icons from imageres.dll from System32, but imageres.dll from SysWOW64. I opened it with customizergod, changed the icons and it worked without using icon changer.

Clasurol, you really set up your windows 10 exactly as windows 95/98/2000/ME/XP, just one question, how did you get the applets from classic windows to work on windows 10? i.e. system, sounds and multimedia, regional settings, how did you point them to classic windows not windows 10? Also how did you get Kodak imaging working on windows 10? You just forgot one thing. The powershell, they still have the new icon, why you forgot to modify it? Also does 3RVX adjust the volume or is it an replicated 95/98/2000/ME/XP volume emulator?

Also does 3RVX adjust the volume or is it an replicated 95/98/2000/ME/XP volume emulator? Most applets work right away - you just take the old ones from W98/2k and drop them into system32/syswow64 and they should load; only timedate.cpl won't - had to get a little inventive to get that to work. I'll have to check what I did (forgotten to be honest!), so I'll post again soon with how to get that working. Kodak Imaging was a PITA to get working. I followed this guide but still had a hard time getting it working - long story short, you have to register the DLL files for the program to work, and 32 bit and 64 bit OSs differ on how to do it. Just keep trying and it should click. Note I can not provide these files as a company still licences this software on modern hardware; you'll have to acquire the files yourself. Thank you for the tip regarding the Poweshell icon, I'll look into changing that. As for 3RVX, it's a skinnable volume control alternative. I made skins for it, see here: www.winclassic.net/thread/267/classic-volume-slider-skin
