I went with a hybrid style of Windows 98 and 2000, picking and choosing what I liked from both and mixing them together. I had to recreate the classic program listing style from scratch, it took a long time to do, but was well worth it. Control Panel in W10 is butchered, so I redirected all the lose links in the Start menu. Painstaking yes, but again worth it. EDIT 1: MSConfig from XP works just as well as the Win7 version, but lacks the "Tools" - not needed tbh, and this one has the classic icon. Talking about classic icons, I restored the Task Manager's from Windows 2k using Resource Hacker. I ripped mmysys.cpl from W2k and surprisingly it works fine - you change/listen to system sounds, and also change the midi driver: MS in their infintite wisdom, removed this option in XP (or was it Vista) and now the only way to do this, is through the registry. Controlling the sound volume is however, not possible. Also major props to Powerplayer for posting the link to the W2k System Properties, thanks man. File explorer. Not 100% happy it as I'm stuck with the Command Bar; I can't remove it, even by editing shellstyle.dll - turns out RibbonDisabler adds it. Sod the ribbon, I'd rather have the command bar than that. Other than that, I'm really happy with this. Thanks goes to ROB for the icons, script and Anixx for the address bar remover script. Massive thank you to the pair of you. My user directory. I restored the classic user folder names ("My Documents", "My Music" etc). This is my preferred file manager though - best classic one I've come across, and zero bugs. I decked out Seamonkey the way I like it. Classic desktop context menu - unlike the previous method I thought up (which was "hacky" and convoluted to say the least), this is super easy to achieve. All it involves it using a bat script, and that's that. I'll post up the method soon. Classic volume slider - this is a 3RVX skin I made to replicate the Win98/W2k volume slider - and it's pretty accurate. Awesome setup!! Three things for you though:
What program did you use to change the icons? The recent Windows update just reset my Imageres.DLL AGAIN and I have to change all of my icons around to the Windows 10 ones for folders. CustomizerGod also seems to crash my explorer, very glitchy. My fault for not backing up the imageres.dll I was using. Better find it again.
Do you have the classic MSConfig.exe? I can't seem to find that now, I think my Windows Update updated the old one again, and Winaero Tweaker download for classic MSConfig and Taskbar leads to a broken link.
And also, where did you get the My Music icon you're using? It looks great!

I use CustomiserGod sadly. If that's crashing for you, try using Resource Hacker as well. As for the files you wanted, I've packed them all into a single archive here: drive.google.com/open?id=1fjx3X7w4Cf7goW3LOwB-UGvS_m1fiw-YThe music folder ico seems to be official, as I've come across it in a few packs. Can't be fully sure though. As for Msconfig, I've included both versions I've - namely the XP and W7 versions.

Thanks so much!! Turns out I had the MSConfig already, it was just called "Classic System Configuration." I ended up using Customizer God, it just bothers me that I can't exit out of it and that it crashes the desktop when I use it to replace an icon. So basically I have to replace all of the icons all at once when I use it.

Nice looking windows 10 setup! Can I ask how did you get rid of the ‘personalize’ And ‘display settings’ on the context menu and replace it with desk.cpl from another version of windows?

Another thing, did you manage to make the win2k sysdm.cpl work by pressing advanced system settings or did you just open it normally?

I used a program called Right Click Enhancer to remove items and add items to the desktop context menu. As for desk.cpl, yes, that comes from a previous version of Windows, which has been modified by the peeps on here to work on modern Windows. As for Sysdm.cpl, I have that set up to run from the Start menu. Nothing has been replaced, just added.

Thank you. I will try this when I get back home, and it looks like you have most of your links to older programs in the start menu. I will be sure to check this out

New update: Reduced DPI from 125% to 100. Also removed font smoothing - I think. I've followed every guide, done every tweak I've come across and spent hours on turning the sodding thing off, but I can't be 100 percent sure I've achieved it. It looks like I have, to me at least, but who knows, don't really care at this point. I'm done trying to get it working.

Not a fan of using Classic Theme at 4k - Start Menu becomes far too small, and it would mean I would need to do some* work (taking screenshots of a VM install and then editing them to get new Start buttons that scale properly for example) to get it looking somewhat decent. I mean look at this - it needs adjusting sure, but it's good example of what I'm talking about. I'll stick to keeping my desktop at 1080p, and 4k for gaming. I like it better that way.
