Still one thing i dont know if you know how to : disable the folder thumbnail , but sill get picture thumbnails.
(i din't saw your update ^)
I was under the impression if you disabled folder thumbnails, it disabled pic thumbnails altogether on Win10? Please if you know how to achieve it, I'd like to know. Cheers.

Clasurol, you really set up your windows 10 exactly as windows 95/98/2000/ME/XP, just one question, how did you get the applets from classic windows to work on windows 10? i.e. system, sounds and multimedia, regional settings, how did you point them to classic windows not windows 10? Also how did you get Kodak imaging working on windows 10? You just forgot one thing. The powershell, they still have the new icon, why you forgot to modify it? Also does 3RVX adjust the volume or is it an replicated 95/98/2000/ME/XP volume emulator? Most applets work right away - you just take the old ones from W98/2k and drop them into system32/syswow64 and they should load; only timedate.cpl won't - had to get a little inventive to get that to work. I'll have to check what I did (forgotten to be honest!), so I'll post again soon with how to get that working. Kodak Imaging was a PITA to get working. I followed this guide but still had a hard time getting it working - long story short, you have to register the DLL files for the program to work, and 32 bit and 64 bit OSs differ on how to do it. Just keep trying and it should click. Note I can not provide these files as a company still licences this software on modern hardware; you'll have to acquire the files yourself. Thank you for the tip regarding the Poweshell icon, I'll look into changing that. As for 3RVX, it's a skinnable volume control alternative. I made skins for it, see here: www.winclassic.net/thread/267/classic-volume-slider-skinThanks for advice. but what about the outlook express? how did you get it to work? and also on the taskbar it shows you've installed outlook express 5 while start menu says you installed 6 which one is the true?

@mina, Use customizergod and if it doesn't work, some programs don't pick their icons from imageres.dll from System32 (default dll for general icons for customizergod), but imageres.dll from SysWOW64. I opened it with customizergod, changed the icons and it worked without using icon changer.

i'm talking to clasurol, not you. That comment didn't include a mention to clasurol or a quote, so I figured it didn't matter. And IMO it shouldn't matter. Any useful help should be appreciated.

@mina , Use customizergod and if it doesn't work, some programs don't pick their icons from imageres.dll from System32 (default dll for general icons for customizergod), but imageres.dll from SysWOW64. I opened it with customizergod, changed the icons and it worked without using icon changer. On 64-bit Windows, there exist 'two system folders', so to speak. You have System32 (which is for 64-bit system files), and SysWOW64 (which is for 32-bit system files). The naming convention is confusing, I know. Anyway, if you run 32-bit programs on 64-bit Windows (marked with *32 in Task Manager), they will not load the 64-bit system files in System32, but instead are 'redirected' by the 32-bit subsystem (appropriately named "Windows-On-Windows-64") to SysWOW64 and use the there present 32-bit files. So the programs for / in which your icons didn't change initially by only changing them in System32\imageres.dll or shell32.dll were most likely 32-bit programs.

I've already told you in a post above why I can't do that. Imaging is still being sold, if you want the files you need to get them yourself from a copy of Windows 98. I can not and will not provide them. I'll look into your other requests at a time when I have time.

clasurol, i mean what files are required to run imaging? The guide I linked to on how to get Imaging working on modern Windows tells you what files you need to take out of W98, but ok, here is the list: OIUI400.DLL OITWA400.DLL OIPRT400.DLL OISLB400.DLL OISSQ400.DLL OIADM400.DLL OICOM400.DLL OIDIS400.DLL OIFIL400.DLL OIGFS400.DLL IMGCMN.DLL IMGEDIT.OCX IMGSCAN.OCX IMGSHL.DLL IMGTHUMB.OCX IMGADMIN.OCX IMGOCXD.HLP

Because those are direct from Windows 98 and 2000. Some of them work out the box on W10, and some (like w2k's System Properties) have been hacked. As for W98's Date/Time applet, I had to get creative and make a shortcut that ran the file with rundll32.

I organized the programs in my start menu and it's pretty borderline OCD tbh, but wth, it's perfect for me:
Long story short, I like things tidy and this took way too long to achieve.
