I test SCT on the latest Insider builds (Dev branch) of Windows 11. Note that I always install ExplorerPatcher when using SCT, as it fixes a lot of problem with Classic Theme. Since it's been 11 days I will ask again, should I use the most recent BETA or the latest non-beta version of Simple Classic Theme? It depends, if you're feeling adventurous use beta 2 (on beta 3 it seems you can't check the checkmarks to start the actual install). The last release version should work fine. However as with any classic theme method there's always a risk it will break your system. Make sure you have a bootable USB handy/make a restore point. If you just want the look of the classic theme without actually setting the classic theme use windowblinds, both the old and newer versions have more than decent classic theme looking skins.

It's been a year since the last time I installed SCT (still have it on my old Thinkpad P70, I recently got a new laptop) and I need a reminder on what is going on here and how to fix this. Basically setup got stuck in finalizing. I can close it and manually install SCT from the SCT.exe, but when I enabled it, it just wont affect explorer. Everything else except explorer works, though. I'm on 10 21H1 19043.928 Enterprise non LTSC. The other one on my Thinkpad P70 is the same release but Pro. I was assuming that it's basically not compatible with Enterprise or worst case it's just SCT having issues with 11th gen laptops. Might be wrong though
Oh and if anyone here uses Windows 11 22631.2715 (23H2) or 22621.1265 (22H2), does SCT work with it? Basically I'm planning to use it on my ROG ally as well lol

Hi everyone.
I have an important announcement to make.
Unfortunately, I have been extremely busy the last few months. My studies cost me more time than I could ever imagine and in my free time I have noticed I do not feel like developing my big projects. I think forcing myself to develop SCT 2.0 every couple of weeks has led me to only do two lines and close it every single time. I do not feel like the project is making any progress, nor do I feel like it is going anywhere.
My main intention with SCT was always to make everything simple, hence the name. One tool that can install and fix most of the things needed for running a Classic Theme setup. As I have grown out of using Classic Theme on my main machines, I feel less like I actually know what is required for getting a good setup.
Furthermore, I have no clear roadmap of what SCT needs. I have been chaotically refactoring and adding stuff to it, but the project does not come along nicely as a whole. It is missing the simplicity that made SCT shine and I cannot seem to add it back without losing too much functionality.
All of this has led me to the following decision. I will effective immediately stop development on Simple Classic Theme 2.0 for an indefinitive amount of time. I will not guarantee if, when or how the project might come back, as I honestly do not see it happening. This includes L.CT.Taskbar, L.CT.MultiUser and any other components of SCT. I will try to release the SCT 2.0 appearance configuration panel as a separate project, as it is quite an useful resource and the source code can be very informative.
I will remain fully active as a member and administrator in ClassicServ. I love the community and have no interest in leaving it anytime soon. I will be regularly checking in on WinClassic as well, but not as much as first. Also, Panther2K development will continue as usual. I want to apologize for disappointing the people who I promised public beta 4 a while back. I have tried, but I just can not do it. I want to thank everyone for supporting Simple Classic Theme's development throughout the years. It has been an amazing ride and I hope other Classic Theme developers will make some great stuff to replace SCT.
xx Leet

as for the compatibility, I do think Win10 wouldn't have much problem with SCT. What I want to know is whether it will work just fine or there's issues with SCT on the Win11 build I mentioned (though I'm changing course and going to use Win11 22631.2715)

Normally it is possible to run the explorer in the classic theme.

I have updated the first post of this thread. If you are using SCT currently I would recommend reading through it.

will sct 2.0 be open sourced? if you did so, others could continue development on a forked version or something idk

splashy I am still thinking of how to do it. The current source base won't even compile because it has so many unfinished changed. I can however easily separate the code into packages (eg. Color dialog, MCT, System resource replacer, etc.) and release those. I also have an important announcement regarding the SCT website. I am currently working on a new website for myself, leetftw.com. The website isn't finished yet but I have setup the framework for it. simpleclassictheme.leetftw.com will from now on be the main domain of the SCT archive. This will be available for a very long time. Starting in June, the hosting for simpleclassictheme.nl will end, so I will no longer be hosting a separate website for SCT. But through the magic of DNS I have made it so that simpleclassictheme.nl is an alias of simpleclassictheme.leetftw.com. I will keep this domain active for a long time as well.

Just about to start testing windows 11 LTSC and I wanted to give simpleclassictheme another try. Too bad development stopped but could you at least fix the beta3 installer? Last time I tried there was no way to actually install it as somehow requirements were never met or I could not agree to the terms so I could not click next/install (can't remember the exact button name, but the button to start installing stayed greyed out)
