I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but... That is a small ass start menu. Only the second time you open it. First time it's normal, third and beyond it doesn't open at all. 10.0.17962 (AKA the thing after the April 2018 update...in other words, idfk)

Isn't that Classic Shell? What am I missing/not seeing? It is Classic Shell, that's my entire point. It's dead. They killed it.

Ivo stopped actively developing it, but it's been forked, has it not? Forked? Yes. Will that fork go anywhere? I haven't a clue. I hope so, but I'm...not exactly optimistic. However, I will admit that I am biased, for obvious reasons.

Has anyone figured out how to add shortcuts to the left side of the ReactOS taskbar?

I told you how to do that on the previous page: Try adding whatever shortcuts you want to this folder: %appdata%\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Quick Launch and re-launch the ROS taskbar to see if they take affect - it worked for the two I have. It works. Just create a shortcut of whatever program you want, then add it to the Quick Launch folder. It really is as simple as that. Thanks...not sure how I missed that! I thought I had asked that question before...my apologies! Thanks again.

I take back what I said before, the folks behind that fork appear to know what they're doing.

Please give a link to the fork.

One day I would love to see if someone can fix the glitchy as heck System Tray in the ReactOS explorer. It's barely functional. Would love for it to work with TaskBar Hide for some of those pesky programs that just don't have a Minimize to System Tray option. Maybe it's because I'm still living in the 90s, but I'd love to see more programs implement it.

Read Spitfire's OP or follow this: Ok, I've uploaded my own edited version of this script. All you need to do is download it, extract it, and place it all under C:\Classic\ and run it, and it should work. Download: drive.google.com/open?id=1kdKq_oUUhoJng7PeNG7mLiSseJdusWk3Brief Instructions: 1. Download and install Classic Shell + AHK before you do anything 2. Create a new folder on your C: drive called Classic. 3. Download the file above. 4. Extract the contents. 6. Place the contents into C:\Classic\. 7. Make sure the contents are like as follows: i.imgur.com/77AKI51.png 8. Run the reg file (Classic Font.reg) to change the font, otherwise you'll have a screwed up taskbar. 9. Go into either folder to select a version of the script with a different Start button. "StartButton" = Windows 95 start button, "StartButton2000" = Windows 2k Start button. 10. Run the StartButton.ahk script - this will launch the ReactOS taskbar! 11. If you want the volume control back, run the VolumeTray.ahk script. Hope that helps. Remember to thank Spitfire as this was he's work, not mine, I merely put it all together. Also Anixx did the font reg file, so thank him as well.

So I did that and there are a couple of issues. -The start button when pressed was very blurry. -There is a blank application I can't get rid of. -Can't click any icons in the bottom left -No show desktop button. Any help?

The Blank application is a glitch remedied by using a program such as "Taskbar Help" or WatchCat to remove the issue of the blank "Shell Explorer Host" program showing up in the Taskbar. In regards to the bottom left: Try adding whatever shortcuts you want to this folder: %appdata%\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Quick Launch and re-launch the ROS taskbar to see if they take affect - it worked for the two I have. It works. Just create a shortcut of whatever program you want, then add it to the Quick Launch folder. It really is as simple as that.

-The start button when pressed was very blurry. Try using the other one. I made these start buttons by ripping them from virtual machine installs at a 1920x1080p resolution, so if you're viewing your desktop at a higher resolution, that might be the cause. If the other one does it, you might need to make your own. -There is a blank application I can't get rid of. Yep, you'll need a program to hide certain ghost processes that like to linger around - try Taskbar Hide, it's pretty user friendly and should do the job: filehippo.com/download_taskbar_hide/-Can't click any icons in the bottom left Like the system tray (icons on the bottom right), some of them can be broken. You'll need to weed out the problematic ones and remove them. -No show desktop button. Even if you did have a one there (some do when they first start using ROS taskbar), it'd be broken. Not to worry tho - I created my own, that does work with it. Download this: drive.google.com/open?id=1R5Ie84YVat4Z0Kh-si6ZF9rDkO1MPdts, follow the readme file contained with in, and then, in your file manager's address bar, paste this in: %appdata%\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Quick Launch. Inside that folder, copy and paste the shortcuts (or delete the ones that don't work) and kill the ROS taskbar from the task manager (explorer_old.exe) and then re-load it. They should work now. Thanks for the help. Will post updates soon Also I meant to say bottom-right. oops

The Bottom-Right, only some of the buttons work. As we were stating above, the ReactOS taskbar is glitchy. The Battery, Wifi Flyout, and Volume buttons do not work. In my personal experience I've gotten most programs I've used that minimizes to the ReactOS tray to work, including Winamp, Steam, NetSetMan (replaces the flyout) and Lightbulb.

Finally got around to installing WatchCat and it is definitely more functional than TaskBar Hide ever was. Nice find! I stumbled upon a new program, purely by chance, that enables you to do this. It also allows you to hide taskbar processes like Taskbar Hide, but this one is superior, because it also remembers what you want it to do. No more having to hide Shell Host Experience tab on each login. It's like a swiss army knife; tons of features. It also dates back to the Win95 era, so it fits in well with Classic Theme. The program is called WatchCat. I've uploaded it here. It saves it's settings to the registry, but the program is portable (= no install). Make sure you only run the program from a location you want to keep it in, otherwise on next launch the program won't appear in the taskbar - if that happens, read the readme file I've included which includes a fix. I replaced Taskbar Hide with the program above. List of features: - Allows you to save processes that you want hidden as "rules" and that save, so each time you load WatchCat up, it will auto-hide them. - Allows you to assign certain keyboard combos for certain stuff. Like for say, I have WIN+* set up so it hides the taskbar so I can game without the taskbar in view. - Allows you to put your shortcuts to the systray - by default, it has a Computer directory that allows you to view all the folders on your computer, and best of all, a network icon that lets you select whatever router, device or computer you have on your network. Essentially, a working network flyout. - Change the program's systray icon to whatever you want. It also has features to adjust desktop icons, but from experience, DON'T touch that. Turn it off and never use it - it crashes Explorer. In Properties, avoid the Miscellaneous tab altogether - only select the Watchcat (Main options), Rules (where you can make custom rules to hide a program, etc), Folders (add whatever shortcut you want to the systray) and About (self explanatory) tabs. Also, turn off Autohelp when you go into Properties, otherwise it'll keep coming up with an error that it can't find the Help doc (program dates back to '98, after all). Also, never set the program to start at startup - it hooks to Explorer.exe that way - you want it to hook to explorer_old.exe (Reactos taskbar in other words).
