MS are making backend changes to File Explorer recently, so Classic Theme is kind of screwed with it on the latest builds. You have a functioning file explorer now, it gets worse in 1809: www.winclassic.net/thread/343/1809-kills-explorer-classic-theme?page=1&scrollTo=1894Hunt down LTSB 2016 if you want to use Classic theme on W10 or stop using the script until a workaround/fix is found. Right now everyone is in the same boat. Damn...that's a shame; I figured that it wouldn't affect me since I'm not on 1809. Thanks for the info. Sorry to bother, but could you point me towards some resources on the ReactOS explorer? I've heard it's a good alternative if you want the "classic" style on Windows 10.

Sure thing, but that will get you a classic themed taskbar: www.winclassic.net/thread/177/reactos-taskbar-win10-desktop-classic

Hello 6sicsix ! Is there such a script for Windows 8.1? On Win 8.1 it is much easier to do, so there is no need for a special script.

Hi all, I went extremely overboard with making a self-contained script to close the themesection handle on winlogon.exe.. When you first run it as admin it makes lots of tweaks and reg imports to make classic theme work better and installs two scheduled tasks (one elevated, one with normal rights) Both tasks calls different subroutines in the script in order to launch programs as needed (applicationframehost.exe, taskmgr.exe) before the themesection handle is closed by handle.exe. I also set open folder windows in a seperate process, so that the desktop and taskbar are working. All other folder windows and programs are in classic theme. You will notice it launches taskmgr.exe before closing the handle, then I also set the debugging key back to the nt task manager.. So I have replaced the new task manager with the old one, but also have the new one open and minimised to the system tray.
From windows 10 1809 onwards there is no shellstyle.dll for the classic theme
Due to this, file explorer windows do not render. Do not use this script on 1809 if you need file explorer.
I recommend using Windows 10 Enterprise LTSB 2016 (based on 1607) and adding the Microsoft store using powershell (don't update the store after doing this)

Hola a todos. Alguien sabe cómo eliminar esto y hacer que mi PC vuelva a la normalidad. Ejecutando el script como administrador e ingresar "D" debería eliminar la mayoría de los efectos.

Is there a way to get paint and wordpad back? I didn't realize to check through the settings before running, and it seems like it replaced them.

Hi there. Fantastic script, does its job well. Only problem I have is the taskbar changing it's layout but not switching to classic theme. Is there any way to fix this or install a supplemental program for it?

HOWEVER, there is a solution: www.winclassic.net/thread/740/simple-classic-taskbar-download-link

Win10 taskbar is not compatible with the Classic theme. You can use Windows 8.1 instead.
